3. Audio script:
Mr. Adam is the principal of one of the middle schools in a medium sized city in Germany. The
city is located very close to Germany’s capital city, Berlin; the city is suburb of Berlin.
Mr. Adam entered the English classroom for 8 year old students this morning at nine o’clock.
He told the students about a new English teacher that would start tomorrow.
Mr. Adam said that the teacher is a native English speaker and asked the students to guess
what country the teacher was from.
Some students said Canada, and more said England. A few students guessed Australia, Ireland
and a couple of students said the USA.
Mr. Adam waited for the students to quiet, and then told the students the new teacher was
from the USA.
One of the students asked Mr. Adam what state in the USA the teacher was from. He replied
that the teacher was from Florida. Then, Mr. Adam asked the class how many states are in the
USA. Some students said fifteen, and some other students said fifty. Mr. Adam said, “Yes,
there are fifty states.”
Mr. Adam told the students that the teacher’s name was Ms. Johnston, and he hoped they
would welcome her tomorrow when they meet her.
