LIP
AUGMENTATION
LIP AUGMENTATION
• Lip augmentation is a type of cosmetic surgery or a
non-surgical procedure that aims to alter the
appearance of the lips by increasing their fullness
through enlargement using fillers.
• Lip injections or fillers, a type of lip augmentation,
are one of the fastest ways to create volume in your
lips and reduce lines around your mouth.
What are lip fillers?
• Lip fillers are a popular trend, where a cosmetic
surgeon will inject a dermal filler to plump up your
lips.
• These types of dermal fillers are sometimes called
"hyaluronic acid fillers" and there are a number of
different substances used in the injection.
How do lip injections work?
• Lip fillers injected by a highly trained medical
provider are one of the quickest ways to fuller lips.
• These minimally invasive treatments can also treat
moderate to severe facial wrinkles, including
smoothing marionette lines around the mouth.
• Any lip injection treatment will be customized
for you, but most typically last about an hour with
your medical provider injecting the solution in and
around your lips.
• Some providers may suggest numbing the area
before injections to cut down on pain.
• Post-injection, it's important not to put too much
pressure anywhere on the lips to allow the treatment
to evenly settle.
• The fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid (or HA), a
substance that’s found naturally in the body.
• It’s a pretty useful beauty ingredient because it’s able
to hold up to 1,000 times its own weight in water.
• In a cream, it can only do so much because it can’t
penetrate the outer layers of your skin to reach a
depth where it can have an instant and noticeable
impact.
• Some brands are using low molecular weight HA, to
try and force it deeper into the skin, but even that
can only do so much. That’s where the needle comes
in.
• Because HA is something that our body produces – it
in lesser quantities as we age – It is happily accepted,
and once injected into the skin it’s easily broken
down over a period of months.
• It’s far from permanent; which in itself is reassuring.
And it’s not only used in the lips; it can plump out
wrinkles, restore volume to cheeks and eradicate
those vertical lines at the side of your mouth.
• So if you are thinking about facial fillers, here’s what
you need to know.
• The risks with HA over, say, silicone injections are
incomparable.
• But, if something were to go wrong there’s an
antidote.
• Your aesthetician will use another injection that
effectively dissolves it and reverses the mistake.
How long does the procedure last?
• It takes around 15-20 minutes in total.
• You can choose the parts of your lip, or even just one
lip, that needs focus.
• Dr. Sachdeva's Dental Institute can help you give
advise on the amount of solution needed to suit your
facial Lip fillers are having a bit of a moment – but
how much do you really know about them, and What
should you expect from the results?
• Lip fillers; they’re not everyone’s cup of tea but they
are one of the most Googled beauty search terms.
• A safe bet that a lot of you are at the very least a
little curious.

always a chance that something could go wrong.
• It is always safe with good hands. This is why it’s
incredibly important to only allow a qualified,
reputable professional to do it.

your doctor’s technique. The procedure is done
under Local Anaesthesia.

• Surprisingly it does not hurt.
• There is a sharp pinch as the needle breaks the skin
and that’s it.
• It must be ensured that the filler is evenly
distributed in that area.
How do they look and feel the next
day?
• You will see results straight away, followed by
swelling, which is completely normal.
• This can last from anywhere between 12 and 48
hours, although it’s not unusual for this to continue
for up to three days.
• During this time, an ice pack should be applied to
the area to ease swelling’
• It is a very easy and no-invasive process which can
change the way you always thought about your lips.
