Under President Goodluck Jonathan's leadership, achievements across key sectors include increasing agricultural production and reducing food imports, establishing new universities to improve access to education, refurbishing healthcare facilities and reducing maternal mortality, completing water projects to provide access to millions, and constructing and rehabilitating over 28,500 km of roads. In order to reduce the N10.5million school drop-out in the
country, a number if special intervention programmes such as
the Almajiri Education, the Girl-Child Education and Back-to-
school were initiated.
12 new Universities (9 in the North, 3 in the south) have been
established to enhance access to Federal Universities across
the country and absorb thousands of students who are denied
University admission every year
To improve the quality of instruction, the GEJ administration
sponsored 7,000 lecturers of Federal and State tertiary
institutions for post-graduate studies home and abroad

1,500 primary healthcare facilities were
refurbished and supplied with essentials drugs
Maternal mortality has dropped by more than 50%
in Midwives Service Scheme (MSS) facilities.
Guinea worm disease, which previously affected
over 800,000 lives yearly, has been eradicated
from Nigeria.
