Lily was a beautiful and caring friend, but after graduating she became influenced by society and turned materialistic. The document discusses how social influences like society can change people and make them focus more on material goods and money rather than quality time with friends and family. It also explains how personal influences like an inspiring father figure helped shape the writer's values and work ethic at a young age.
The document provides prompts for describing different types of people, including someone who helps others, is good at their job, is admired, or encourages achievement of goals. It then provides a sample response describing the person's mother, who helps disadvantaged people through her position in the women's union. The response details how she raises funds and provides supplies, job training, and support to those in need. It expresses pride and admiration for the mother's selfless devotion to helping others.
This document discusses the state of design pattern automation tools. It begins by introducing different levels of automation, from simple templates that insert pre-built pattern structures to more advanced dynamic patterns where classes update automatically in response to model changes. The author notes debates around automating design patterns, which involve complex human reasoning, but argues tools aim to assist with implementation not replace designer deliberation. Overall, while one-size-fits-all solutions have limits, parameterised templates with wizards show promise in helping generate custom solutions for designers.
BCIX is a nonprofit internet exchange point founded in 2002 that operates three switch locations in Berlin. It has over 100 members and traffic of around 6 gigabits per second. It also gained 12 new members and participated in several industry events to engage with the networking community.
The document discusses the "Tooled Composite Design Pattern" for building direct manipulation programs like painting applications. It addresses how to manage the complexity that arises from different tools interacting with different object types. The key ideas are:
1) Use the Composite pattern to represent shapes in a hierarchical manner.
2) Use the State pattern to represent tools, with the application behavior changing based on the current tool.
3) Use the Visitor pattern or runtime type information (RTTI) to determine how a tool interacts with a shape, avoiding complex nested method calls.
4) Implement an event handling system to pass events to the current tool and allow switching between tools.

Ever wanted to create a "direct manipulation" program where you select various tools and manipulate stuff on a workspace? These sorts of applications are quite difficult to build due to the many possible combinations of behavior that is needed. Every tool must know what to do with each type of object. How do we manage this sort of complexity? Well the GOF (gang of four) author John Vlissides documented this pattern in this paper

Several UML modeling tools support design patterns to different extents, including IBM Rational, ObjectIF, StarUML, ModelMaker, and Enterprise Architect. These tools allow applying patterns to existing classes, represent patterns visually through techniques like color coding and collaboration lines, and generate code for patterns. While each tool has strengths, their pattern support is still evolving and some tools may have interface or other issues.
Oracle Streams allows for the flexible sharing of information between databases. It captures changes made at a source database, stages the changes in queues, propagates the changes to destination databases, and applies the changes. Key components include the capture process, queues, propagations, and apply process. It can be used for messaging, data replication, and data warehouse loading between Oracle and non-Oracle databases.

This document describes the Null Object pattern. The Null Object pattern provides an object that acts as a surrogate for another object that shares the same interface but does nothing. This encapsulates how to do nothing and hides those details from collaborators. The pattern involves an abstract class that defines the interface, a real object subclass that provides behavior, and a null object subclass that implements the interface but does nothing. Using a null object avoids checks for null values and simplifies client code.
The Blackboard architectural pattern allows specialized subsystems to assemble their knowledge to build a partial or approximate solution for problems that have no known deterministic solution strategies. It involves a central control component that coordinates specialized programs working independently on a common blackboard data structure to share results for problems that require different representations and fields of expertise, such as speech recognition which involves acoustic, linguistic, and statistical domains.

Kate Chopin's novel The Awakening features the character of Edna Pontellier who begins to reject her prescribed role as wife and mother in late 19th century Louisiana society. The novel was highly controversial at the time for its portrayal of a woman actively seeking personal fulfillment and independence rather than passive acceptance of her domestic role. Both Chopin and her protagonist Edna are seen as early feminists who challenged traditional social norms limiting women's freedom and capacity for self-determination.

Andrea Mennillo gave the 2012 commencement address at Trinity-Pawling School. He shared how he once defined success through wealth, status, and career achievements but had a change of perspective after a family illness. This experience led him to devote more time to charitable work, including building an agricultural school in Burkina Faso, one of the poorest countries. He encouraged the graduates to define their own success through living compassionate lives as thinkers and doers who can help address the world's complex challenges, not just through career accomplishments but by putting values like goodness above material gains.

The document discusses a student's strategy to invest in stocks to earn money for college over 4 years. They began by investing in retail and manufacturing companies for the holiday season. When temperatures dropped, they invested in companies related to cold weather activities. However, their portfolio became too diversified and they were unable to gain or lose money. They then consulted their mother, a stockbroker, who recommended investing in Eagle Pharmaceuticals based on its success and being relatively unknown. The student learned that being successful in the stock market takes a lot of research to find emerging successful companies.

3. "We see a dream; we work for a dream; one day, and we will make it happen”. - Many famous and influential people have not enjoyed immediate success in their lives. For example, Albert Einstein, one of the world’s greatest scientists of all time, performed badly in almost all of his high school courses and failed his college entrance exam. My name is Abulkasham M Yousuf, and my ambition is to become a writer and financial adviser. Therefore, MBA from Franklin University could guide me to my success and dream -

5. Independence DayBy Abulkasham M YousufInstructor: Robert Loss, English 210. December 15, 1971: What’s warned was doomed: A bullet busted and muted my uncle’s heart, A somber mood crossed into the family. An obituary wasn’t published in the newspaper, A prayer had been prayed on the college ground. He had a job, which had been lost because of the war. He was desperate to have freedom for his family, He didn’t have the courage to fight the enemy. He provided settlers, foods, and intelligences to the freedom fighters, and Hoping to have a better life for his family was the only wishes he had. What’s earned was freedom: December 16,1971. The independence of Bangladesh had just been announced, Hair, bones, and empty bullet shells were all over the ground. Suddenly, the hopes of my uncle were lost, The hopes of the nation were raised. A green and red flag was flown all over the country; Emptiness was grown all over the family. The parents of my mother lost their desire to live together, They lost their hope to hold each other, My dream was rising like my uncle. When I was in college, I visited them several times, and I showed them the life I would have in the future, Happiness came back again like before Independence Day.
6. Background When I came to the United States with my son and wife in July 1997, I had only completed practical courses in the Charted Accountant (CA). The Chartered Accountants Program in Bangladesh is like the Certified Public Accountant program in America. To become a Chartered Accountant, one must serve in a chartered firm for three years, or three and half years, depending on one’s education and one’s concentration on practical aspects of accounting. Furthermore, one must take exams to gain a license. As a CA student, I was supervised by Mr. KhundkerHahmudul Hasan FCA of K.M.Hasan & Company from October 31, 1993 to April 30, 1997 and was registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh. In addition, I have a M.Com in management. After struggling for almost two years in this modern country – it was with the language, not was with the lack of accounting skills - I decided to go back to school. Therefore, I registered in Queens College, New York, for the fall of 1999. Unfortunately, I had to drop out because my father passed away in that fall. Suddenly, the whole world broke down on my head like an earthquake. In the New York City, I was bussing tables for a few months. Later the administration promoted me to the management.
7. HoldBy Abulkasham M YousufInstructor: Robert Loss, English 210. My younger son, He cries and whines, When I go to work or go to walk. He wants me to hold him all the time, He is a sweet and precious baby, Like the moon in the sky pouring the love. Always shines our life like the moonlight, He wears diapers that he never minds. What can I do? I have to run and earn money. I have to go to hike with my bike. I’m not a machine with dashing looks. I miss his hugs, His attachment to my love, I can’t escape. Our love and affection will never be broken, Our happiness and enjoyment will never be taken. What else should I do? I need money, He wants love, Should I be at work? Or Should I be at home? At the same time, I can’t hold both, but I can love him all the time.

9. After Nine YearsBy Abulkasham Yousuf Are you selfish, greedy or jealous? If not, you may lose human characteristic. Yes, every human has been part of healthy selfishness, healthy greediness, and a healthy jealousy, one way or the other. However, sick selfishness, sick greediness, and sick jealousy are spreading all over Bangladesh like a wild-fire. When I went to Bangladesh in 2000, it was still green all over, especially Dhaka city like an evergreen rain forest. If you born and raised in Gulshan, Badda, or Baridhara, - you know what I am taking about – It is a massive distraction of a community. In my childhood, I saw each road had a few trees and each house had a few flowers-beds to shine all year long. Nevertheless, I hardly find any trees. Most of the trees were replaced to build high-rise buildings or towers. Is this way, how we will survive in the twenty-first century? Most people of my age group who are in their thirty’s or forty’s are already getting heart disease. It is a terrifying situation for a nation, but most do not care about it. Furthermore, they do not want to know about it, how it effects their livelihoods and/or their society in a whole. Only thing they all care about “Money”. Yes, make money or die for money, it is the best deal for them and their decedent’s lives. Can money buy anything or everything? How would some honesty and honor in life?
10. Continued… I observed that educated people are not willing to do what they have been taught in school, college, or university. Because of the family needs, they are trying to earn money, no question asked period. In my life, I witness that most of our older generations give respect for other older generations as their fore-fathers. As I went to Bangladesh after nine years, I found out that not only are older generations part of huge social unrest, but they are also organizing the major “Donation Gang” around their areas. As I read Mr. SalahUddinShoalbChoudhury’s article “Bangladesh – a nation in terror,” it reminded me that the whole country is being terrorized by the people who have been elected by the general public, most of whom are illiterate. Who are these people and who voted for them? When more and more people are becoming the slave of daily needs, they are losing moral character. Selfishness, greediness, and jealousy are progressing in their lives like isonomy in the Bay of Bangle. They are absolutely unaware of what it takes to live daily lives peacefully. People have been electing cadets of “The Arm Group” or “The Donation Gang” for the general election. Why? Therefore, crime-bosses are becoming strong and wealthy. Ethics, decency, and integrity are fleeing from Bangladesh at the speed of light. (It was published in www.newsfrombangladesh.net )

12. Fall in LoveBy Abulkasham M YousufInstructor: Robert Loss, English 210. I would like to express to her my first love. I would live to reveal to her the love I have. Maybe it’s going to work, Maybe it will not work at all, I’m afraid. “I love you,” I said to her. “Do you…?” she replied as soft as the morning breeze. She looked at me with her flashing eyes; Her reaction was mild and strange When I responded slowly in a nervous way, “Yes…” “Really…?” she inquired with a strong voice, This time her face was as red as a gala apple, When I looked at her one more time, I saw a rejection sign on her face, then I said to her hesitantly, “ No…” “That’s okay…” she whispered not as gentle as use to be. Her voice lost the melody, The melody did not come back again. She holds her mouth for a few seconds, and… Said to me, “You’re a smart boy, I can see. I’m a nice looking girl, you can see.
