LibreOffice 3.4 introduced several new features including unity and global menu support, font previewing, Cairo text subpixel rendering, and optimizations that make the software launch faster and use less memory. Code was cleaned up by removing duplicate icons, converting text encoding to a separate library to save RAM, fixing Linux fontconfig leaks, and removing unused code. LibreOffice 3.4 can also run in parallel with version 3.3 on Linux systems.
