Undergraduate course providing a focus on social scientific research concerning the mass media
in the lives of children and adolescents. The course centers on media effects literature and
controversies relevant to child and adolescent media users. I facilitated class discussions of
theories, concepts, methods, and findings relevant to children and the media. Students also
considered social implications and personal choices in media use through a literature review and
a group media literacy campaign as a final project.

INTERN | VJR CONSULTING| 2013
Worked with Vicky Rideout of VJR Consulting to research relevant articles and studies for a
literature review on children, parents, reading, and media use.
PROGRAM COORDINATOR | UNITED WAY OF SANTA BARBARA COUNTY | 2008-2010
· Planned and implemented the Fun in the Sun program- a summer enrichment program for local
poverty-level children, coordinated approximately 60 organizations to deliver services and
supplies to sites and participants, organized 500 community volunteers to assist participants
throughout the program.
