To Whom It May Concern:
I am recommending Lily Jacobson as someone who is an outstanding individual that I have
found to perform at a level beyond most university graduates and has the ability and character
to become an outstanding professional in any organization that she is employed with. The only
limitation of this evaluation is that is that is based on general abilities and characteristics an
employer would want of any employee but doesn’t address unique skills that may be required
for a specific position.
I have known Lily for over two years as a student in my class and as a research assistant that
had worked with me in a co­worker to help me find software that I could use to meet students’
needs for additional materials and that I am comfortable using. She was an A student in the two
classes she had me as an instructor. Both of these classes were in subject areas that were that
were not areas that were her natural strength. In terms of research, Lily helped me to find new
ways to provide students with supplemental materials that fit a variety of student learning styles
and needs. She also helped me in rethinking the materials I already have in how to modify
them to improve student learning. I have found Lily to be a person who not only is intelligent but
also intellectually curious and has the desire, dedication and ability that is typical of life time
learners. She has shown an ability to do research and the ability to adapt to changing
circumstances. Lily is an excellent communicator particularly in her ability to actively listen and
provide meaningful feedback. When working with her and as a student in my classes I have
found her to have an outstanding work ethic and always to provide on time profession work.
Lily’s interaction with other people is reflective of an open and caring person. I have seen her
regularly helping other people planning their schedules or working with different software. Lily
has an optimistic personality that is also realistic and can handle set­ backs and bumps in the
road. I have found Lily to be and extremely ethical person who has the ability to recognize
ethical situations and resolve them in an ethical manner. I have found that she can be trusted
with her word and that when she makes promises she follows through on them. Her work ethic
is reflected in the fact that she has financed most of her education through scholarships and
several jobs throughout her time at St. Catherine University. She treats other people like she
wants to be treated and respective of other peoples cultures, religions, age and backgrounds.
I recommend Lily based on the reasons above and that fact that she is the type of person I
looked for when I was hiring people. I have been teaching for over thirty five years in various
universities and she is definitely someone I would rank in the top 5% of traditional students I
have had in class.
