At the upcoming AGM on March 18th, they will discuss funds and next repair steps, and collect £10 membership fees which pay the building's insurance.

A generator and interior repairs were completed at St Nicholas church. This included plastering, painting, and constructing a new storeroom. The Holm 200 display was postponed but will take place this summer. The trustees thank all those who contributed financially and through volunteer work to maintain the church.

The Friends of St Nicholas annual report summarizes their activities from the previous year. They had volunteers open the St Nicholas Vestry for visitors from near and far. The trustees gave presentations to local groups and expanded their archive materials. Donations covered their costs for the year, and they spent capital on restoring a window. They still have funds in the bank but less than last year so will need extra fundraising as they renovate the main building, having applied for a grant. They hope the historic building can be used once more for heritage-related activities.

A generator and interior repairs were completed at St Nicholas church. This included plastering, painting, and constructing a new storeroom. The Holm 200 display was postponed but will take place this summer. The trustees thank all those who contributed financially and through volunteer work to maintain the church.

Antoine Pietri was elected as a new trustee to replace Freddie Tait. Volunteers scrubbed the kirk floor, treated the woodwork, and reinstated the bell. The charity participated in fundraising events like The Blue Door and a Christmas crafts fair. A memorable Christmas concert was held in the kirk to raise funds, overcoming obstacles of no heat or light. The trustees agreed to purchase a generator and repair plasterboard, and hope to receive a grant for painting, but need more funds to repair exterior walls letting in water.

The Friends of St Nicholas held their annual general meeting on March 12, 2019. In attendance were the chairman, secretary, treasurer, trustees, and other members. The minutes from the 2018 AGM were approved. The chairman highlighted improvements made to the building and support given to fundraising events in his annual report. The treasurer's report showed £12,890 in funds with income of £5,345 and expenditures of £4,208. Ivan Houston was reappointed as auditor for 2019. All current trustees agreed to stand again and were reappointed, with the exception of the secretary who will fill the role temporarily until September.

New term letter to parents advising on the restart of school.
Stronsay Junior High School will return to a 5 day school week beginning August 12th. Students will return to school in stages by age group. Classes will operate in bubbles and remain in their assigned classrooms, while teachers will move between rooms. Physical distancing will be encouraged but not required between students. Enhanced cleaning measures will be implemented. Support for learning sessions will be limited to 20 minutes with face coverings. The school aims to deliver PE outdoors and be outside as much as possible. Three entrance/exit points will be used to reduce congestion. The head teacher requests parents notify the school of transportation and meal plans.
Letter to parents on monday 17th august.
Stronsay Junior High School head teacher Andrew King wrote a letter to parents about the first week back at school and some reminders and updates. The children are doing well with the new safety measures in place. Outdoor classes will continue for PE and breaks when possible. Homework will be limited for now but reading books will be sent home. Hot meals are aiming to resume from August 24th. The letter also included information from Orkney Islands Council about face masks and visors, emphasizing hand hygiene and distancing over mask wearing for students.
Estimates letter to parents
Teachers at Stronsay Junior High School will use a variety of evidence including coursework, assignments, topic tests, and prelim exams to estimate students' grades for their SQA qualifications. Estimates will indicate a band and refined band for each subject, and students will be ranked within each band. The estimates will undergo quality assurance including review by the head teacher and education department before being submitted to the SQA. The SQA will then conduct further moderation and may adjust the estimates during their quality assurance process before issuing final results.

This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Their efforts are restrained by the messenger in verse 2, preventing them from holding back the 4 winds, the spread of the gospel of Christ by His messengers/angels. These 4 winds stand on the four corners of the earth, Rome’s worldwide influence to stop its spread. But the gospel will be preached in all the earth. Esta lição é uma oportunidade para discutirmos um assunto multo mal interpretado no contexto cristão, que é o fato de algumas pessoas pensarem que o conhecer Jesus é ter a nossa vida mudada em todas as áreas, como se Deus tivesse o dever de transportar-nos deste mundo para um outro mundo onde muitas coisas maravilhosas que desejamos seriam reais. No entanto, a nossa fé não nos tira do mundo após nos convertermos; ao invés disso, permanecemos vivendo sob as mesmas circunstâncias. O propósito de Deus não é nos tirar do mundo, mas nos livrar das ações do maligno (Jo 17.15), Sendo assim, a vida eterna não significa estar fora da realidade deste mundo, mas conhecer o único Deus verdadeiro (Jo 17.3).

Friends of St Nicholas Reg charity no: SCO 44541 Chairman: Andrew Drever Treasurer: Athole Thomson Secretary: Marlene Mainland Letter to Orcadian February 2018 Holm 200 2018 marks the bicentenary of the rebuilding of the Ould Kirk, St Nicholas in Holm, where it has existed in various forms for over 500 years, and 2018 also marks the centenary of the signing of the Armistice on 11th November 1918, bringing an end to the fighting of World War One, which caused such dreadful loss to our communities. Prompted by these centenaries, the local charity group, Friends of St Nicholas, are planning an exhibition, entitled Holm 200, later this year, and we would like to hear from anyone with Holm connections willing to participate, either by telling us your stories, or loaning materials of interest for display during July and August. Anything which you feel is relevant to Holm’s story, and which informs us of change in all aspects of life over the past 200 years will be appreciated. We continue to expand our photo collection showing Holm life through the years, up to the present day. We are grateful to those who have already shared photos with us, and these are of great interest and value to the community. We welcome more, which we will copy, before returning the originals. We also plan to run a photo competition depicting Holm today, so that is something else to be thinking about!
