Kevin Yun, founder of DESIGNATION Labs, wrote a letter of recommendation for Zack Chan. Yun founded Fitsby, a startup focused on gamifying gym-going through social competition. My name is Kevin Yun, Founder/CEO of DESIGNATION Labs, a UX/UI design
bootcamp in Chicago and St. Louis. I am the former CEO of Fitsby, a startup com-
pany focused on making living healthy easier and more fun through gamification in
gym-going competition amongst friends.
Fitsby was officially incorporated in July 2013. Our company was seed funded and
incubated by Tiger Labs, an accelerator in Princeton, NJ.
Zack, legally known as Chia-Ming Chan, joined us very early on in our company,
during our alpha stage, when we were launching the Android mobile app. Zack was
with us from August 2012 until May 2013.
Zack’s role in Fitsby, as the VP Marketing, was to lead all marketing initiatives, in-
cluding distribution strategy and execution, data analysis, leading the intern team,
and much more. As a startup, it was imperative that all team members be capable of
wearing different hats, and Zack succeeded in this area very well.
With our combined marketing and PR efforts, we were able to successfully launch
our beta mobile app with splashes of national tech PR coverage, as well as being
hailed by The Guardian as one of the top 15 best fitness apps in 2013. Zack helped
us get to where we did, and our distribution and branding would not have been as
strong without his capable intuition and resourcefulness.
