Dear Graduate Admissions Committee Members:
It is my pleasure to recommend Ivan Gamboa for admittance into the Master’s program at the
University of St. Thomas for the fall 2015.
Ivan worked for our organization as a College Access Coach in one of our schools assisting and guiding
students in career exploration and motivating them to seek higher education after high school.
Ivan was assigned to George I. Sanchez Charter School, where the college going rate is less than 12%.
Sanchez Charter School serves low socio-economic and first generation students. In this assignment,
he demonstrated his passion for helping students, listening to their career goals, and providing
guidance to make a difference in their lives.
Ivan served through our AmeriCorps service program for 5 months. In that short time, he gained
admiration not only from the students he worked with, but from the school staff and teachers. They
were impressed with his energy to help students and to impress upon them to seek some level of higher
education after high school.
I am confident that be an asset to the Graduate Program at the University of St. Thomas.
