REFERENCE – Patrick O’Brien
Patrick approached PTC Aviation in early 2015 to facilitate his training for his Grade 1 instructor upgrade.
During this training his dedication to the task, knowledge and friendly disposition became apparent and Patrick
was employed at PTC as a B738 FSTD instructor.
In January 2016 Patrick was appointed as the Team Leader B738 training where he managed a team of 10
instructors and coordinated the successful completion of 39 B738 Type Ratings of PTC candidates. His
responsibilities in this roll included:
• Management and development of B738 courses
• Development and control of PTC Aviation courseware
• Management, scheduling and control of all training resources related to B738 training
• Management of training costs and training deadlines
• Liaison with student sponsors
• Internal training and development of instructors to deliver type rating training at PTC Aviation
In the execution of his duties Patrick demonstrated effective leadership, astute managerial skills and timeline
management. He is a competent, mature aviator with strong human factor skills and a passion to succeed.
As a Flight Instructor Patrick is student orientated, structured and a role model. He commands the respect of
his colleagues and students and his mentorship abilities were instrumental in much of his students successes.
He was part of the B738 remedial training facilitator team and was responsible for the bespoke development
of numerous remedial training programs.
Patrick is a very capable individual who often to personal detriment demonstrated exceptional commitment to
the company and its needs. He can look forward to a very successful Airline career. It has been a pleasure to
have worked with him as part of the PTC Aviation instructional and management team. His diligence,
determination, hard work and cheerful nature will be greatly missed.
I highly recommend him for employment as a Commercial pilot.
