This letter provides a strong recommendation for Line Aagaard's application to the Masters in International Communication Studies program at Nottingham University in Ningbo China. The professor writes that Line was one of the most engaged students in her Cultural Anthropology and World Cultures course, demonstrating a high level of intellectual understanding and ability to analyze materials. Line stood out for her willingness to actively engage in class discussions and integrate information from her peers. The only criticism is that Line sometimes tried to dominate conversations, but the professor believes this will be less of an issue in a graduate program among peers. Overall, the professor recommends Line very strongly for the program due to her excellent and engaged work in cultural topics.
Using Literature in Teaching English as a Second Language A Case Study of Ard...ijtsrd
English language teaching is becoming more popular throughout the world since English language got the place of a global language. Teaching English as a second language would be more interesting and easy if it is taught through the local colors of understanding. Literature is the best source to make language learning easy and fascinating. For the beginners of English language learner, there are large numbers of stories which can be taught in classrooms. Short stories, specifically children stories, short poems and novellas can be good source to arise interest among learners. Literary texts provide chance to come across different type of emotions, expressions and sentence structures. Literary language enables learners to differentiate between formal and informal language. Literary text can be taught through audios or by showing movies based on literary work with English subtitles which not only will improve their pronunciation and but also will help to improve their listening for English language. Reading literary text during language learning builds a rich vocabulary for a new learner.Learning language through literature also help the learner to know other cultures very closely, because literature of different languages provide with the platform of various cultural values, rules and regulations, and prepare the mind of readers to accept the differences between cultures and respect the values of others. This research will help the teachers and students as well which would be mainly focused over the students of English department only. This is an objective research a survey among the students would be done by the researcher itself, in which short text of different genres of literature would be given to be taught during language learning classes. The data of the research would be calculated by SPSS. 1. Letter of Academic Recommendation
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to support the application of Line Aagaard in her application for the
Masters in International Communication Studies at Nottingham University in
Ningbo China (UNNC). Line was a student of mine in the spring term of 2015 in
my Cultural Anthropology and World Cultures Course through Humanitas College
at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea. During her time in my class, Line
was consistently one of the most engaged students in the course, demonstrating a
high level of intellectual understanding of the materials. She was also creative in
her thinking, able to quickly and competently analyze and synthesize the assigned
readings and work with her own experiences and knowledge. Her coursework
overall demonstrated a mastery of the material and a clear understanding of the
course goals.
Among my students, Line stands out for her exceptional willingness to engage
with the material through class discussion. She was eager to both articulate her
own experiences and ideas, and to tie them in to the topics we addressed in class.
She was also able to understand and integrate information shared by her peers as
a way to increase her own knowledge base and learn more about the world
around her. The course explicitly addresses cultural differences.
The vast majority of my students are second-language learners of English, as was
Line, but she had no trouble understanding the readings or participating in class
in English, and I have no doubt that she is capable of continuing studies in English
at the graduate level.
