This document outlines a Zumba dance class that will meet three times a week for 50 minutes per class. The purpose of the class is to provide an outlet for stress relief and physical fitness through dance. The instructor will use the ADDIE instructional design model. Students will be graduate students aged 21-50. The learning objectives are for students to understand how Zumba helps with stress, learn at least 3 salsa moves, and create a presentation on their experience. The class will include warmups, skill sessions, and cool downs. Students will be assessed through video submissions of their dancing and a final presentation.

2. INTRODUCTION
• “ LETS DANCE” IS A ZUMBA CLASS THAT ALLOWS STUDENTS TO EXPERINCE DANCE IN A FUN ENGAGING
WAY. THIS ZUMBA CLASS WILL MEET UP THREE TIMES A WEEK 5O MINITUES PER CLASS AND EACH
STUDENT WILL LEARN A NEW STYLE OF ZUMBA/ SALSA.
• THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLASS IS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH AN OUTLET TO EXPRESS THEMESLEVELS
THROUGH MOVEMENT. STUDIES HAS SHOWN THAT DANCE IS A GREAT STRESS RELIEVER AND CAN HELP
WITH WEIGHT LOSS, AND PHYSICAL STAMINA.

5. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
• OBJECTIVE 1
AFTER TAKING THE ZUMBA CLASS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE IMPORTANCE OF HOW ZUMBA DANCING CAN HELP WITH STRESS.
EACH STUDENT WILL BE REQUIRE TO CREATE A YOUTUBE THAT WILL BE WILL USED AS A WAY TO UPLOAD CHOREOGRAPHY THAT IS TAUGHT,
AND IT WILL BE USED AS A JOURNAL TO TRACK YOUR PROGRESS. AFTER EACH CLASS THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO CREATE A VIDEO WITH
THEM DOING THE DANCE, AND THEY WILL NEED TO SHARE HOW DANCING MADE THEM FEEL AFTER EACH CLASS.
• OBJECTIVE 2
AFTER TAKING THE ZUMBA CLASS EACH STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY A LEAST 3 SALSA MOVES AND WILL HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE THE
MOVES THROUGH A VIDEO UPLOAD.
• OBJECTIVE 3
AFTER TAKING THIS ZUMBA CLASS STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO PREPARE A POWERPOINT WITH IMAGES AND VIDEOS EXPRESSING HOW THE
CLASS MADE THEM FEEL, AND DID THEY NOW HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING ABOUT SALSA, AND IMPORTANTLY DID THEY HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!
6. INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES
• THE CLASS WILL CONSIST OF TAKING ROLE THE FIRST FEW MINUTES OF CLASS. ▪ WARM- UP: 10 TO 15
MINUTES EQUALING 1-3 SONGS ▪ 35-40. MINUTE SKILL SESSION ▪ 5 MINUTE HEALTHY COOL DOWN.
• THE CLASS WILL BE 5O MINUTES 3 DAYS PER WEEK.
• PARTICIPATION AND ATTENDANCE COUNTS AS 70% OF YOUR GRADE. 2. DEMONSTRATION OF SKILLS
LEARNED. 3. NO TEXTBOOKS REQUIRED FOR THIS COURSE.
7. ASSESSMENTS STRATEGIES
• EVALUATION WILL BE THROUGH VIDEO INTERACTION. ONE OF THE REQUIREMENTS IS EACH STUDENT
WILL HAVE TO MAKE A PROFILE AND RECORD THEMSELVES DOING THE DANCE MATERIAL, AND AFTER YOU
HAVE TO DISCUSS ABOUT THE LEARNING PROCESS AND HOW LEARNING THE DANCE MADE YOU FEEL
AFTERWARDS. THE FINAL CLASS STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO PREPARE A POWERPOINT WITH IMAGES AND
VIDEOS EXPRESSING HOW THE CLASS MADE THEM FEEL.
• AFTER WE WILL HAVE A OPEN DISCUSSION ABOUT THINGS THAT WAS CHALLENGING AND HELPFUL.
• THEIR WILL BE AN EVALUATION AND MANY QUIZ AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER.
