newspaper/TOEFL book.
By the end of the lesson students will be able to.
 read the lesson independently.
 scan the reading passage in order to get specific
information.
 skim the reading passage in order to get a
general idea.
 pronounce new and difficult words skillfully.
 Material: One comprehension passage from
TOEFL Junior Test, one passage from Dawn
newspaper, white board, board marker, work-
sheet with activities on it.
 Teaching Methodologies: Demonstration method,
lecture method, question-answer technique to
check the skimming and scanning skills of the
students and ensure class participation and
students’ interest.
 New Vocabulary: pay heed to (pay attention,
consider carefully), depict (describe in words,
portray in words).
 Read any story/article from any Pakistani
English newspaper and share story/main
idea/important details with class fellows in the
next class.
