Unit 1
Lesson 1

Welcome
to
Online Old Testament
First Semester
Let me start by introducing myself.
(click on the speaker icon at the bottom)

2
Go to the Discussion Forum in the
Topic Box for today that says,
“Something About Me”
and follow the directions to tell
everyone online something about
you.

3
Introductions:
Mrs. Schramm
Married, 4 children, teaching 33 years (7
years at Crean!) (MA), was promoted to
bank president at BOA but left it to teach!
4
Attendance/Getting to know you
Stand up when you hear your name and
catch the ball.
Say your name and favorite candy.

5
This is how I will greet you before each class.
Click on the speaker to hear why I will do this.

ANCIENT GREETING
The Lord be with you.

And also with you.
Prayer Requests

6
In this class you will be
reading the Bible for yourself.
Someone will not be telling you
what the Bible says.

Why is that important?

7
Consider this question:
What was the fruit that Adam and
Eve ate from the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil?
Did you say…….

9
What does the
Bible say?

10
Answer:
The Bible doesn’t say.
(Genesis 3:6)
6 So

when the woman saw that the tree was
good for food, and that it was a delight to
the eyes, and that the tree was to be
desired to make one wise, she took of its
fruit and ate, and she also gave some to
her husband who was with her, and he ate.
Why do we think
it was an apple?
OR

…because
it has
always
been told
that way?

OR

Sunday School
Pictures
Art or images in the
Church
So, why is it important to read
the Bible for yourself and not have
someone tell you what it says?
So that you can know for the certain
the difference between
“man’s truth” and “God’s truth”.

13
Let’s explore this question:
WHY do we study the Bible?
Here is what the LORD tells us
in John 20:31,
“These are written that you
may believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God, and that
by believing you may have life
in His Name.”
Unlike other books,
The Bible does not
have a message that
changes with time.

History, Math, Science and
English change with time
and new discoveries.
The message of
God is LIVING.
The message changes people.
It brings them to faith while giving
comfort and strength in this life.
The more we read, the more we grow in
the relationship He wants with us.
What is the “Ancient
Greeting?”
What was the fruit….?
Why do we study the Bible?
18
We will talk about
this famous
painting later. 
