Legal Aid of Marin provides legal services to low-income residents of Marin County. They help over 2000 households each year through services related to housing, employment, consumer issues, and other civil legal matters. While some perceive them to only help people sue others, in reality they file less than 10 lawsuits per year and focus on early negotiation and preventing legal issues whenever possible. Legal Aid of Marin is not federally funded and relies on donations from the community. Over 30% of Marin residents qualify for their services.
