Newsrooms have accepted Microblogging as a way for journalist to get stories out. It is used to push out links to stories and engage with audience members through images, visuals, or short narratives. Allows great participation through social media sites from audiences.
Some stories may be seen as click bait because of dramatic headlines which are (designed to drive traffic). Catchy-tempting titles traps the audience member into wanting to read more. Its a common tactic used on YouTube and many news platforms of all kinds.
Click bait can be used to drive audiences to important news stories, but it can also be used to spread and promote fake news. Fake news is propaganda, distortion, manipulation or lies shared with an intent to deceive readers.
Kony 2012- the advocacy of sex trafficking young children in Uganda. Celebrities like Oprah helped sky rocket the viral video.
