Fashion Design Projects will cover three
different design led projects.
Researching and investigating two niche
markets, sustainable design and human
factors and ergonomics.
Completing the course with the students own
choice of design led project.

For each of the projects students need to
determine key criteria for the design briefs
and their target market.
While developing a design aesthetic and
philosophy students are encouraged to explore
different fields within fashion design. From
design led projects to their own exploratory
development.

Industry works within a given customer
profile, based on their research into
consumers and sales.
Fashion students should explore different
customer profiles, designing for tween’s
through to the gray market. Children’s wear,
men’s and women’s. This will enable
designers to find their niche in the field of
fashion.
For fashion design projects students are
encouraged to choose a different customer
profile for each of the three projects.

When developing research through to design
students are encouraged to design for both
men and women.
Through the development of the design
process students can then choose which
designs and outfits they present as their final
collections. These could be men or women, or
both.
A full customer profile of age and lifestyle
board needs to compliment the design style in
look and accessories.

Students must develop a clear plan and
schedule for development of individual
projects, linked to time lines and budget
and liaise with others to ensure these
objectives and deadlines are met.
They must show an understanding of how
to collate research from different sources,
plan processes and facilitate development
and evaluation of design concepts within
prescribed guidelines.
