Temperature
• thermal probe inserted through headplate into culture
• maintain temperature at ~37 oC ± 0.5oC
→ use heating elements (may have localized Electric Heating jacket
overheating at low agitation speeds)
→ heated water (37oC) circulating around an outer
“jacket”, or through coiled pipes within bioreactor
→ for small scale reactors may also use electric heating
jacket that wraps around the vessel
Heating probe that fits into a shaft that goes into the medium.
Probe itself isn’t in contact with the medium.
