pretend to go away and watch him bat from a distance .
Finally sir agreed to let him join the camp.
57. Sachin had practice sessions every morning and
evening at Shivaji Park at the end of which he would be
thoroughly exhausted. So he felt that the schedule of the
camp was a rigorous one. Sometimes when Sachin evaded
from practising at the nets, Achrekar would come on his
scooter to take him to the nets. Only a sincere coach would
do it. Achrekar Sir punished Sachin once when he bunked
the daily evening practice. It helped him to practise hard
every day and become a world renowned
58. Sachin’s brother Ajit gave him a note containing some thoughts
about batting. He kept it with him as it served as a very personal
coaching manual. Sachin practised both in the morning and evening
but he had only one set of cricket clothes. So his routine was to wash
and dry them after each session so that he could wear it for .
59. His father allowed Sachin to change his school where
cricket is given more importance. So all his excess
energies were channelled into playing cricket and Sachin
considered this as a safety valve. In order to own the one-
rupee coin kept by Achrekar sir on top of the stumps,
Sachin had to avoid getting out and bat continuously with
some sixty to seventy boys fielding. It taught him how to
concentrate even when physically drained.
60. It also gave him immense
satisfaction. After the
thorough practice in cricket
Sachin had to run two full
circuits of Shivaji Park with
his pads and gloves on. This
routine throughout the
summer holidays helped him
61. . He considered this regular demand as a little
unreasonable. He had not realised that his parents also had
to take care of the needs of his brothers and sister. So his
demand was unreasonable. During the early morning bus
journeys to the practice at Shivaji park Sachin had to stand
inside the bus with the kitbag on his back. He often took the
space of another passenger. So sometimes he was asked
by the conductors to buy two tickets.
62. Sachin Tendulkar is not a man born with silver
spoons in his mouth. Cricket and cricket lovers
especially in India consider Sachin Tendulkar as
a legend but it is hard to believe that his rising
was from a very ordinary family. It was a keen
passion for cricket that Sachin soured to the sky
to shine among the stars. As a child, Sachin had
to overcome many obstacles to become a
cricketer. It helped him to practise hard every
day and become a world renowned
63. Ramakant Achrekar coached young cricketers at Shivaji
Park in Mumbai. Sachin was also coached by him. During
the practice, If he became exhausted, Achrekar would put
a one rupee coin on top of the stumps and the bowler who
dismissed Tendulkar would get the coin. If Tendulkar
passed the whole session without getting dismissed, the
coach would give him the coin. Thus he used to encourage
Sachin at all times and gave him practice thoroughly..
64. Ramakant Achrekar , the mentor looked after all
players really well. During the training session,
Achrekar worked sincerely and gave rigorous
training to everyone in the camp. Had it not been
for Achrekar, Sachin would not be the cricketer. The
coach Achrekar was a strict disciplinarian and did
everything . Therefore he could give the legendory
Sachin Tendulkar.
