BEGINNING OF CRICKETING JOURNEY OF SACHIN
RAMESH TENDULKAR
• Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar’s cricketing journey begins from there
when Indian cricket team wins the 1st World Cup on 25th June 1983
under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, when Sachin was just 10 years old.
He also wants to hold the World Cup in his hand just like Kapil Dev.
• From then his brother Ajit Tendulkar first time taken him to the
coach Ramakant Achrekar on the Shivaji ground. His brother wants
to become cricketer firstly but due some financial crisis he had
sacrificed his career for Sachin as Ajit feels that Sachin has more
talent of playing cricket and the rest is history now.
• His coach Ramakant Achrekar has never blessed Sachin even when
he done the very good batting on that day because according to
him blessing go into the head of them and he become lethargic
towards practice.

Sachin Tendulkar began the
first Indian Batsman to play in
English County Cricket from
Yorkshire
Vibhu Sogani 4
• Sachin’s coach gives batting practice to Sachin as he puts a coin on
the top of the stumps and says to the bowlers that anyone who got
the wicket of Sachin can receive this coin. He done this to enhance the
batting skills more because the more you practice of defending the
balls the better you become as batsman.
• Sachin as even practiced for more than 10 days daily on the different
grounds with his coach so that he can able to take experience of
different pitches for doing more efficient batting and enhance his
batting skills.
• At the age of 14 he made a world record of hitting a ton in his debut
ranji match and became the youngest batsman to do this.
• On 23rd and 25th February 1988 Sachin Tendulkar has made a world
record partnership of 664* runs along with Vinod Kambli in which
Sachin made 326 not out and Kambli made 349 runs not out against
St. Xavier’s High School which becomes the turning point of his career
& because of which he got the chance to make the debut against
Pakistan just at the age of 16 years.
BEGINNING OF JOURNEY 100 CENTURIES OF SACHIN
RAMESH TENDULKAR
• Sachin’s maiden test century came against England at Old Trafford,
Manchester on 14th August 1990 when India was in same condition
as was against Pakistan in fourth innings of fourth test. India was in
deep trouble to save the match and then Sachin came to bat and hit
his maiden test century and saved the match for India.
• From there his journey of 100 International centuries have started
and from England he smashed century against Australia in Australia
and becomes the poster boy in India. He started receiving many
advertisements from various advertising agencies and on 9th
September 1994 against Sri Lanka at R Premdasa stadium in
Colombo. This inning of Sachin helped India to have a 31 runs
victory against Sri Lanka and got the Man of the Match award. It
took him
Vibhu Sogani 7
Vibhu Sogani 8
78 matches to score the first century but after this century he non- stoply
continues scoring centuries for India & in the 1996 World Cup he lonely
take India to the semi-final, but unfortunately he got out in semi-final
against Sri Lanka with a score of 65 runs even and no body would able to
score even 30 runs and we lost the semi-final. But in that World Cup Sachin
scored a massive 523 runs in just 7 matches with a massive average of
74.71.
• In that World Cup the condition of India is that when Sachin then only the
team plays well otherwise the team collapse like the house of cards.
Because of this performance in the World Cup he got captaincy in just at
the age of 23 and knowing by the nickname of “Little Master” across the
world.
• Then in 1998 when Sachin removed from the captaincy due to
Vibhu Sogani 9
his poor performance in recent he scored massive runs in Coca Cola
Cup in 1998 which was held in Sharjah, U.A.E. In that in the semi-final
held on 22th April 1998 he scored massive 143 runs against Australia.
However Australia won the match because of D/L method but
Sachin’s innings helped India to qualify to final & in final which was
held on his birthday i.e. on 24th April 1998 which is his 25th birthday,
Sachin scored massive 134 runs knock and this innings helped India
to won the Coca Cola Cup. Sachin was awarded as Man of the Match
and Man of the Series for this wonderful knock which gifted the
Sharjah Cup. This two innings was the greatest of all the innings that
Sachin had played and turned him from the player to a legendary
player in just 25 years of age.
• Then in 1999 again Sachin got the offer of captaincy but this time
Sachin had clearly negates to take the
Vibhu Sogani 10
captaincy and then rumors started against Sachin that he was not thinking
about the country but thinking about his own performance and then
Sachin forcefully takes the captaincy and in 1999 World Cup was not that
good against the 1996 World Cup partially because of Sachin not playing
well in captaincy and partially for that that his father passed away in 1999
and he had to go for his father’s funeral back to Mumbai. He scored only
one century which was against Kenya in that World Cup.
• Leaving back captaincy again in 2000 he scored 136 runs against Pakistan
on 31st January 2000 & this shows that Sachin can able to play easily and
more freely without captaincy.
• Then in 2003 World Cup Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar has scored a record
673 runs, the most by any batsman in
Sachin Tendulkar was the only
Indian cricketer who was very
much appreciated by
Australians and & they gave
him Guard of Honor
Vibhu Sogani 11
in the history of World Cup. No other batsman had scored this much of runs
in world cup. These figures helped India to reach in final but unfortunately
Sachin got out cheaply in final against Australia and we again lost the World
Cup.
• On 10th December 2005 Sachin becomes the “Master Blaster Sachin Ramesh
Tendulkar” after breaking the record of Legendary batsman and Sachin’s ideal
Sunil Gavaskar of most no. of centuries in test cricket by making his 35th
century in test against Sri Lanka.
• On 2nd March 2008 Sachin again scored his maiden ODI century in Australia
against Australia and helped India to win the match and in 2nd final i.e. 4th
March 2008 Sachin again scored highest runs with 91 and again helped India
to win match and seal the CB Series with 2-0. In both match Sachin earned
the award of Man of the Match and because of this he earned the award of
Man of the Tournament. It was the best innings of Sachin I have ever seen.
• And on 17th October 2008 Sachin becomes the highest run scorer
Vibhu Sogani 12
in the test cricket by surpassing Legendary Brian Lara’s total of 11953 runs in
the series against Australia at Mohali. The fireworks were burned for almost 5
minutes continuously between the match itself.
• On 24th February 2010 Sachin Tendulkar becomes the God of Cricket from the
Legendary batsman by smashing the double century against South Africa in
Gwalior ODI and becomes the first batsman in the cricket history to score a
double ton in ODI’s and he also received the award ICC player of the year
specially because of this innings.
• In 2011 World Cup also he scores 483 runs which is the highest amongst the
Indian batsman & he smashes 98th international century against England on
27th February 2011 at Bangalore and 99th international century against South
Africa on 12th March 2011 in Nagpur which was his 6th century in World Cup
the most by any batsman in the WC. Before WC i.e. on 2nd January 2011 he
scored 51st test century against South Africa in Cape Town which was his last
test century.
• And on 16th March 2012 the day has come for which every Indian was waited
for 1 year & 4 days when Sachin has made his 100th international century
against Bangladesh at Mirpur of the knock of 114 runs & this was his second
last ODI match
Vibhu Sogani 13
was his second last ODI match of his career. At last ODI match against
Pakistan he was out after scoring half century.
