picture?” The guide
replied, “It isn’t a picture.
It’s a mirror!”
Many would react when
their egos are bruised!
Reflection: When we don’t react to
a person’s heedless speaking,
we won’t suffer but remain
peaceful in our being.

A person may harbor an ulterior
motive when he or she embarks on
something. Sally and her friend
Molly were having coffee at a café.
Sally asked Molly,
“So Joe is teaching you
how to swim.
What have you learnt so far?”
“Oh,” Molly replied, “he’s a
bachelor, earns a huge salary and
owns a million-dollar bungalow.”
Reflection: Have people today
become more and more materialistic?
Wealth and power won’t ensure
your life will be more terrific!

Young ill-mannered teenagers
who try to act smart
can make one’s blood boil.
Yesterday my teenage son spilled
a whole bottle of ink on our new
carpet. When I reprimanded him
on his carelessness, he got the
cheek to say, “Mother, you
shouldn’t be so upset. The bottle
of ink wouldn’t cause a lot. Don’t
be so miserly!”
Reflection:
Education must stress greatly on moral values and character.
Beware of the danger of poor manners,
greed, foolishness and anger.

Insulting another
is terrible.
Once Suay Lang met me
and exclaimed, “Aiyoh,
what happened to you?
The cucumber tattoo you
had in your arm now
looks like a watermelon.
I’m sure you can’t see
your feet
when you shower!”
Reflection: Don’t lie, don’t slander, don’t use harsh
speech and don’t gossip.
You will suffer when you cause others pain
and hardship.

Mindless people can utter
ridiculous things.
I once overheard
a conversation between 2 ladies.
1st
Lady: My son is a marvelous
doctor. You absolutely must go
and see him.
2nd
Lady: But there’s nothing
wrong with me.
1st
Lady: Oh, he’s such an
outstanding doctor that even though
you have nothing wrong, he’ll find
something wrong with you!”
Reflection: A person having a big Ego is disliked by many.
His actions or speech can be most illogical or silly.

Children can issue ‘clever
threats’ to get what they
want. Yesterday my little
daughter said to me in the
park, “If you don’t buy me
an ice cream, I’ll call you
‘Grandma’ in front of all the
parents buying ice cream
for their children.”
Reflection: The young ones need proper attention,
guidance and education.
They will then grow up to become
good citizens of the nation.

It’s unbelievable that an old
man could boast about his
immoral younger days.
He said, ‘With just
RM 10 in the good old days, at
a store I could get pens,
chocolates, T-shirts,
underwear and expensive
souvenirs. But today…aah …I
can’t …too many
CCTV Cameras around!’
Reflection: When one lacks a sense of fear or shame
to do a moral wrong,
he will suffer much physical or mental pain before long.

I am 85 years old and have
3 million dollars. Many
materialistic ladies say
they are willing to marry
me if I were 90. You know
why? Then they say they
need not wait
so long!
Reflection: Very important in life are things like love,
compassion and integrity.
More are now ‘obsessed’ by sensual pleasures
and money.
