1. • Kiuna, meaning OURS in the abenaki language, is located in Odanak, Quebec, on
Abenaki territory.
• Kiuna is a bilingual college created by the First Nations Education Council in 2011,
in partnership with Dawson College and Cégep de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
• The First Nations Education Council is an association of 22 communities,
representing 8 different nations.
• Kiuna offers unique preuniversity programs in the fields of social sciences, arts,
literature and First Nations languages.
• Kiuna welcomes approximately 60 students annually.
• Since 2013, Kiuna has graduated 92 First Nations students.
• 50 % of teaching staff is First Nations.
• 80 % of administrative staff and professionals are First Nations.
