Stream processing has become the defacto standard for building real-time ETL and Stream Analytics applications. We see batch workloads move into Stream processing to to act on the data and derive insights faster. With the explosion of data with "Perishable Insights" such IoT and machine-generated data, Stream Processing + Predictive Analytics is driving tremendous business value. This is evidenced by the explosion of Stream Processing frameworks like proven and evolving Apache Storm and newer frameworks such as Apache Flink, Apache Apex, and Spark Streaming.
Today, users have to choose and try to understand the benefits of each of these frameworks and not only that they have to learn the new APIs and also operationalize their applications. To create value faster, we are introducing new open source tool - Streamline. It is a self-service tool that will ease building streaming application and deploy the streaming application across multiple frameworks/engines that users prefer in a snap. It simplifies integration with Machine Learning models for scoring and classification of data for Predictive Analytics. It provides an elegant way to build Analytics dashboards to derive business insights out of the streaming data and to allow the business users to consume it easily.
In this talk, we will outline the fundamentals of real-time stream processing and demonstrate Streamline capabilities to show how it simplifies building real-time streaming analytics applications.

This document discusses the 12 Factor App methodology for logging and whether it is still valid. It begins by summarizing the 12 Factor App guidelines for logging, which state that apps should write logs to stdout and let the execution environment handle routing and storage. It then discusses tools like Fluentd that can be used to aggregate logs from multiple sources and process them. The document considers different deployment approaches for Fluentd and how to address challenges of distributed systems. It concludes that the 12 Factor App guidelines around logging are still largely valid but should not be taken literally, and modern logging frameworks can help address challenges not envisioned when 12 Factor Apps were described.
The document discusses the technical architecture changes between Oracle Applications 11i and Release 12 (R12). Key points include:
- R12 uses new technology components like Application Server 10g and upgraded database to 10gR2.

- Multi-Org Access Control is enhanced to allow accessing and processing data across multiple operating units from a single responsibility.
- Concurrent processing is improved with the ability to restart failed request sets and submit request sets through a new OAF interface.
The document discusses provisioning Oracle Hyperion Financial Management. It describes creating classic and Performance Management Architect applications, provisioning user groups with application roles, and creating security classes. Key steps include creating application profiles, classic or Performance Management Architect applications, provisioning roles to user groups, and creating security classes to control data access.

Automated software modernisation is the best solution that is fast, low cost, preserves legacy value and is less risky by comparison to the traditional methodology of a re-write or replacement by packaged ERP. Object Management Groups (OMGs) Model Driven Architecture (MDA) methodology provides an automated model-driven reverse engineering and forward engineering process called Architecture Driven Modernisation (ADM) which has already been successfully adopted by a variety of high profile organisations such as Boeing, U.S. Air Force, Raytheon, EDS, Thales (European Aerospace) and numerous governments worldwide.
WORPCLOUD LTD is focused on being an Automated Software Modernisation Expert. We use OMG compliant tools and parsing techniques to extract all system information, business semantics and software artifacts into an XML repository called the Abstract Syntax Tree Metamodel. Next we use MDAs automated transformation procedures to generate new source code of your choice. Manual architecting of the target system are also performed before the transformation thus ensuring; speed, low cost and accuracy of the automated process combined with the flexibility & insight of human analysis.
Research reveals that application modernisation and migration budgets are currently very strong, covering between 25% to 71% of most companies IT budgets in 2013/2014. This clearly indicates that application modernisation is one of the most significant issues affecting companies – due to high software maintenance costs, low business flexibility and crippled integration and interoperability. Software modernisation is the sole remedy for these problems and your organisation can make huge savings by modernising.

Consistent toolbox talks are critical for maintaining workplace safety, as they provide regular opportunities to address specific hazards and reinforce safe practices.
These brief, focused sessions ensure that safety is a continual conversation rather than a one-time event, which helps keep safety protocols fresh in employees' minds. Studies have shown that shorter, more frequent training sessions are more effective for retention and behavior change compared to longer, infrequent sessions.
Engaging workers regularly, toolbox talks promote a culture of safety, empower employees to voice concerns, and ultimately reduce the likelihood of accidents and injuries on site.
The traditional method of conducting safety talks with paper documents and lengthy meetings is not only time-consuming but also less effective. Manual tracking of attendance and compliance is prone to errors and inconsistencies, leading to gaps in safety communication and potential non-compliance with OSHA regulations. Switching to a digital solution like Safelyio offers significant advantages.
Safelyio automates the delivery and documentation of safety talks, ensuring consistency and accessibility. The microlearning approach breaks down complex safety protocols into manageable, bite-sized pieces, making it easier for employees to absorb and retain information.
This method minimizes disruptions to work schedules, eliminates the hassle of paperwork, and ensures that all safety communications are tracked and recorded accurately. Ultimately, using a digital platform like Safelyio enhances engagement, compliance, and overall safety performance on site. https://safelyio.com/

Why Apache Kafka Clusters Are Like Galaxies (And Other Cosmic Kafka Quandarie...Paul Brebner
Closing talk for the Performance Engineering track at Community Over Code EU (Bratislava, Slovakia, June 5 2024) https://eu.communityovercode.org/sessions/2024/why-apache-kafka-clusters-are-like-galaxies-and-other-cosmic-kafka-quandaries-explored/ Instaclustr (now part of NetApp) manages 100s of Apache Kafka clusters of many different sizes, for a variety of use cases and customers. For the last 7 years I’ve been focused outwardly on exploring Kafka application development challenges, but recently I decided to look inward and see what I could discover about the performance, scalability and resource characteristics of the Kafka clusters themselves. Using a suite of Performance Engineering techniques, I will reveal some surprising discoveries about cosmic Kafka mysteries in our data centres, related to: cluster sizes and distribution (using Zipf’s Law), horizontal vs. vertical scalability, and predicting Kafka performance using metrics, modelling and regression techniques. These insights are relevant to Kafka developers and operators.
