3. PURPOSE OF
PRESENTATION
• My Name is Laurie Taylor, I’m
an alpine ski racer in the British
Under 21 team.

cup circuit and compete in
Olympic Games.
• It is a great opportunity for me
to make the next step in my
career and realise my goals.
• Due to my progress I’ve been
selected to train with the

• This is a fantastic opportunity
to train alongside world cup

sponsorship funds towards the
programme costs.
4. ABOUT ME
• I started skiing when I was 6 and dry slope racing aged 9.
• I enjoyed ski racing so much, I trained with a number of teams to improve.
• On a British Ski Academy (BSA) dry slope camp, Malcolm Erskine (EX GB Team
Skier) invited me to train with BSA at their base in Chamonix.
• I have raced on snow ever since, competing for BSA, Queenstown Alpine Ski
Team, British Children’s Team, British U18 and currently the British U21 Team. I
have lived an independent life from an early age, in pursuit of my dreams.
• My FIS points improved hugely in the 2015/16 ski season and believe I have
the ability and determination to reduce points to race in the near future in the
Europa Cup, World Cup and Olympics.
• With the support and sacrifice of my parents I have been able continue skiing
and working towards my goals. I Have also worked part time to lower the
cost, working in the kitchen at BSA washing dishes, in a ski rental shop in New
Zealand and as a labourer in the UK.
• I completed my A Level equivalent exams 2 years early with the highest grades.
This was via distance learning as my parents always said no study no skiing.
• I hope this demonstrates that I am hard working, have a talent and determined
to achieve my goals.
