Latvia has significant potential in green technologies like renewable energy and energy efficiency. It currently gets 32.6% of its energy from renewable sources and aims to reach 40% by 2020. The country has a long history in biomass and biofuels production and supportive government policies. The upcoming Environment and Energy 2011 trade fair in Riga will showcase 110 companies in sectors like energy, energy efficiency, and the environment. The multi-day event expects to attract over 26,000 visitors from Latvia and abroad.
