Broca's area in the prefrontal cortex regulates speech production, while Wernicke's area in the temporal lobe processes speech comprehension. These are the two best known cortical areas involved in speech. Research has shown that many additional brain areas are also involved in language, such as the lateral sulcus and arcuate fasciculus.

Broca’s área:
This area regulates breathing patterns while speaking and
vocalizations required for normal speech.
It coordinates the activities of the muscles of respiration, the
larynx, the pharynx, as well as those of the cheeks, lips, jaws,
and tongue.
Wernike’s area:
The key function of the Wernicke’s Area is understanding
speech. It processes the meanings of sounds.
It is located near the auditory cortex. Its key function includes
speech comprehension.

2. Research has shown that many more areas of the
brain are involved in language activity.
 Lateral Sulcus: It is one of the most protruding
structures of the brain.
“For most people, language happens in the left half (or hemisphere) of the brain. Core linguistic processes are
typically housed in the left hemisphere”.
 Arcuate Fasciculus: It is a large collection of nerve
fibers.
