Associate Dean for Corporate Relations
René Rohrbeck is Professor of Strategy and Associate
Dean for Corporate Relations at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus
University. He received his doctorate from the
Technische Universität Berlin for his research on
Strategic Foresight. He has benchmarked over 450
companies and advised over 50 Top Management
teams on how to increase their future preparedness. At
Aarhus BSS, he leads the Strategic Foresight Research
Network that develops methods for participatory
foresight and scenario-based strategizing and runs
regular benchmarking studies.
Before joining academia, René has worked for
Volkswagen in the Electronic Strategy and for
Deutsche Telekom to build-up Technology Foresight
and Innovation Management in the Corporate R&D
labs. Today, he is also Partner at a Berlin-based
consultancy that serves public clients, private-public
partnerships and multinational organizations. He
teaches in different international Executive Education
programs, where he focusses on Prospective Strategy,
Business Model Innovation and Strategic Foresight.

Cécile is a world-wandering Trend Expert and Concept
Designer born and raised in the Netherlands. With a
huge passion for our world and her obsession with the
Future, she grounded Wandering the Future | Trend &
Innovation Agency.
She is a little obsessed with the Future and she aspire
to be the voice of the ever-changing needs of the
intercultural consumer by being a creative innovator,
supporting brands to meet these future demands. Her
focus is international and with companies and
organizations like a.o. Volkswagen, Ministry of
Education UAE, BNP Paribas, Internet & Mobility World
and E.ON her focus is being lived after.
Next to creating the future together with others Cécile
is an inspired International Keynote Speaker, including

12. BARRY W. FITZGERALD

Founder of Wandering the Future
Global President of LaFutura
Barry W. Fitzgerald is a physicist and superhero
enthusiast. He is currently a research associate in the
Process & Energy department in the Faculty of
Mechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineering (3mE)
at the Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands.
In addition to his scientific research, Barry is very active
in scientific communication and outreach. He has
given hundreds of scientific talks in Ireland and the
Netherlands at schools, universities, companies, and
events such as Dutch Comic Con, Science Week Ireland,
the Galway International Arts Festival and the Delft
International Festival of Technology. Next to several
scientific papers, Barry self-published the popular
science book Secrets of Superhero Science in which he
outlines the real science and current scientific research
that could be used to replicate the superpowers of a
number of iconic superheroes. His follow-up book was
Secret Science of Santa Claus .
Barry established the open access journal Superhero
Science and Technology at TU Delft. The aim of the
journal is to encourage researchers to link their
research to the superhero genre and write articles in a
language that is accessible to both the academic
community and general public. The first papers were
published in the journal in April 2018.
