La-Mélange
A journey of music on
global tracks…..
Mélange
Melange, the word denotes “a mixture” derived
from the old French origin. Group of young and
talented musicians reunite to exhibit the bizarre
face of music in their own form. Melange is neither
a typical rock band nor any other bollywood
orchestra through which people have got enough
saturation. Melange is a unique musical band that
has proved that music can never be differentiated
on the basis of language or origin.
The extraordinary concept of Melange is to
combine the world music with the bollywood
music. It’s not only the combination of these two
but also the songs of melange are being
rearranged to make it sound different and as
beautiful as the original songs sound. Melange’s
music is more inclined towards fusion though it
simplifies the output to rule on the general mass.
The different genres of
   music that are been
performed by mélange….
Opera:-
• Opera is an art form in which singers and musicians
perform a dramatic work combining text (called a
libretto) and musical score. Opera is part of the
Western classical music tradition. Opera incorporates
many of the elements of spoken theatre, such as
acting, scenery and costumes and sometimes includes
     dance.
• The word opera means "work" in Italian (it is the
plural of Latin opus meaning "work" or "labour")
suggesting that it combines the arts of solo and choral
singing, declamation, acting and dancing in a staged
     spectacle.
• The various forms of opera according to their origins
     are:-
    1) Italian opera
    2) French opera
    3) German opera
    4) Russian opera
    5) English opera
• Opera, musically, is formed by a complex
orchestration including number of multiple musical
instruments like violin, cello, harps, trumpets, piano,
flute, bass, drums, cymbals, horns, marimba, etc. The
operatic singers have soprano voice quality, i.e., they
sing on very high pitch or notes. Full of variations on
the composition makes the output creating a dramatic
     ambience.
• Famous opera composers are :- Mozart, baroque,
Verdi, Bel canto, George Frederic, etc
Rock:-
• Rock is a musical style that arose in the U.S. in the
mid-1950s and became the dominant form of
     popular music in the world.
• Though rock has used a wide variety of instruments,
its basic elements are one or several vocalists, heavily
amplified electric guitars (including bass, rhythm,
and lead), and drums. It began as a simple style,
     relying on heavy, dance-oriented rhythms,
uncomplicated melodies and harmonies, and lyrics
sympathetic to its teenage audience’s concerns—
young love, the stresses of adolescence, and
     automobiles.
• It comes in variety of types:-
1. Classic rock
2. Heavy metal
3. Punk rock
4. Grunge
5. Alternative rock
6. Hard rock.
R & B:-
• Rhythm and blues, often abbreviated to R&B, is a
genre of popular African American music that
originated in the 1940s. It is a dance based music.
• Rhythm and blues bands usually consisted of
piano, one or two guitars, bass, drums, and sax.
Arrangements were rehearsed to the point of
effortlessness and were sometimes accompanied by
background vocalists. Simple repetitive parts mesh,
    creating momentum and rhythmic interplay
producing mellow, lilting, and often hypnotic
textures while calling attention to no individual
sound. While singers are emotionally engaged with
    the lyrics.
• The precursors of rhythm and blues came from jazz
and blues, which overlapped in the 1930s through
musicians such as Leroy Carr, Cab Calloway, Count
Basie, and T-Bone Walker. There was also
increasing emphasis on the electric guitar as a lead
instrument, as well as the piano and saxophone.
• Now the term R&B is almost always used instead of
the full rhythm and blues, and mainstream use of
the term usually refers to contemporary R&B,
which is a newer version of soul and funk-
influenced pop music that originated as disco faded
    from popularity.
Reggae:-

• Reggae is a music genre first developed in
Jamaica in the late 1960s originated
following on the development of ska and
rocksteady music style. It’s a Caribbean
music form with many co-streams in it,
    like, dancehall, ragamuffin, reggaeton, dub
    music, rockers, etc.
• Reggae is based on a rhythmic style
characterized by accents on the off-beat,
i.e. the second and fourth beat in each bar.
• Instruments like drum kits, bass, guitar,
keyboards, horns, vocals, etc. The bass
guitar often plays a very dominant role in
    reggae.
• Bob Marley was one of the finest n
    renowned reggae artist.
Flamenco:-
• Flamenco is a folk art and culture from
Spain. It is particular to the province of
Andalusia in Spain. Historically, it has
always been the musical outlet of the
poor and oppressed. It passed on by
oral tradition which the individual artist
uses as the basis for his own variations.
• Flamenco is a tripartite art, involving
    singing, dance and the guitar
simultaneously - as well as rhythmic
    punctuation( by hand-claps and other
methods) that is considered an art
form. There are hundreds of different
types of pieces within flamenco, which
    are defined by characteristic melodic,
    rhythmic, and harmonic structures.
• The accompaniment of the singing by
the guitar is a later phenomenon
although it is recorded by travellers in
    Andalusia in the 18th century.
Andalucian folk songs had in the past
    been accompanied by different
    instruments including bandurria, violin
and tambourine, but now the guitar
    predominated.
Rumba:-
• Rumba is a family of percussive rhythms,
song and dance that originated in Cuba as a
combination of the musical traditions of
Africans brought to Cuba as slaves and Spanish
colonizers. The name derives from the Cuban
Spanish word rumbo which means "party" or
    "spree“.
• Several types or rumba:-
    Cuban Rumba
    Rumba (dance)
    Flamenco Rumba
    African Rumba
• A Cuban Rumba song often begins with the
soloist singing meaningless syllables. Rumba is
now most commonly performed at informal
fiestas or just in the street when the mood
    arises
• Percussions and vocal sections make up
rumba’s musical ensemble like congas, bongos,
    drums(rimshots), tumba, syncopated vocals,
etc. The dance moves are very sensuous and
    usually performed by couples.
Rock & Roll:-
• Rock and roll is a genre of popular music
that originated and evolved in the United
States during the late 1940s and early
1950s,primarily from a combination of the
blues, country music and gospel music.
Along with the African American influence,
rock 'n roll also drew on the lyrical melodies
of recent European immigrants and the
country and western music of Texans.
• A new kind of blues, it featured electrically
    amplified guitars, harmonicas, and
    drummers that emphasized afterbeats.
People still enjoy the funky and nasty moves
of rock n roll dance specially among the
    youngsters.
• Rock 'n' roll was truly made a world-wide
obsession by Elvis Presley. Later, groups
like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones,
Chuck Berry added their own distinctive
touches to rock 'n' roll. During the next two
    decades, superstars emerged, like Michael
Jackson and Madonna, who began filling
    huge stadiums for concerts.
With all these genres of music, mélange
mix up several Indian musical forms
