This document provides information about the 2009 Summit on The Use of Force in Law Enforcement, including an optional post-conference workshop on defensive tactics. The summit and workshop will examine issues related to use of force policies and procedures, officer safety, liability, and lethal and less lethal weapons. Attendees will learn how to develop use of force strategies, implement reporting practices, and understand legal standards governing these issues. The workshop will provide hands-on training in defensive tactics to help officers safely manage confrontations.
