A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, traveled to America in 1965 to share the principles of Krishna consciousness and published numerous volumes of Vedic literature. He emphasized the significance of 'sva-dharma', or one's own duty, which varies according to social roles defined by qualities and actions, and advocated for a society where individuals fulfill their specific occupational duties. Ultimately, he taught that true duty transcends these classifications, focusing on spiritual service to God as the highest form of obligation.
