Samba, the son of Krishna's wife Jambavati, forcibly takes Duryodhana's daughter Lakshmana from her swayamvara ceremony, surprising all attendees. The Kurus plan to attack Samba in response. A battle ensues where Samba is arrested. Lord Balarama is enraged upon hearing this and travels to Hastinapura. When the Kurus refuse Balarama's offer for a peaceful settlement, he uses his plow to create an earthquake. Fearing Balarama's power, the Kurus beg for forgiveness and arrange for Samba and Lakshmana's marriage. Balarama then takes the married couple back to Dwaraka.
