The Iźva Komi Project aims to document varieties of the endangered Iźva Komi language spoken across northern Russia. A work group based in Germany and the Komi Republic will create a digital corpus of audio and video recordings annotated with orthographic transcriptions and translations into Russian and English. The corpus will incorporate existing materials and new fieldwork documenting Iźva Komi in contact with other languages. This comprehensive documentation seeks to preserve Iźva Komi for future linguistic research, as the existing description is over 40 years old.
