A pair of white-tailed kites nested near Lake Hodges in San Diego County in early 2011. They successfully raised broods of 4 young from their first two nests. In their third nest, they raised 2 more young. The kites are monogamous and both parents help build the nest and feed the young, which fledge about 30-35 days after hatching.
