As a result of casting
the role of two
characters to be
attractive females,
males may be a target
audience for this film
since they may view
them as objects of
desire. Meanwhile, a
male protagonist is
R&B sensation Trey
Songz, who may be an
object of desire for
females, and acts as a
demonstration of
Dyer’s ‘starr’ theory.

Since The Conjuring
has a non-linear story
telling approach as it
features flashbacks,
much tension is built
up that creates an
enigma as well as acts
a demonstration of the
cultivation theory. The
unique soundtrack
and cinematography
grips the audience and
proves to be hugely
entertaining, thus; it
demonstrates the uses
and gratification
theory.
