VENUE: Nairobi Safari Club Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. This is a 5-star hotel with modern conference
facilities.
ACCOMMODATION: Nairobi is full of hotels that can suit one’s budget. We highly recommend Nairobi
Safari Club Hotel for your convenience if you can afford it. If you need assistance you are advised to contact
the secretariat through the following email address: executiveofficer@kenyalibraryassociation.or.ke
VISA: Ensure you contact the embassy early enough to avoid visa problems. Take note that most airlines
insist on visas before allowing passengers to board. Visas can be given at the airport but only in very special
cases so ensure you get your visa before travel.
HEALTH
1. It is your responsibility to ensure you have appropriate insurance cover and the necessary vaccinations
2. Yellow Fever is necessary for delegates from most countries. Enquire about the necessary vaccinations
for Kenya well in advance. It differs with countries
3. Nairobi is not a malaria invested area but take precautions to be on the safe side

AIRPORT TRANSFERS: The airport is about 15 -20 minutes drive to city centre depending on the traffic.
The cost of a taxi varies between US $ 25 – 30 depending on the taxi you take. Taxis are many at the airport.
Those who have arranged with hotels for airport transfer will be charged as per the hotel rate.
CURRENCY CONVERSION: There are many banks and bureaus at the airport to facilitate quick
currency conversion. There are also bureaus in town with better rates. Avoid converting money through
middle men on the streets unless recommended by the secretariat.
SECURITY: The venue of the conference will be in the city centre which is fairly secure but like any
metropolitan cities, hold tight on your valuables while walking in town and avoid talking or listening to
people you do not know.
WEATHER: We have no winters in Kenya but June is the beginning of our light cold season. You could
experience chilly mornings and evenings. Bring a light sweater. However, the global warming has resulted in
unpredictable weather all over the world. We therefore strongly advise you check on weather before
travelling.
SHOPPING: There are many shops within walking distance of the venue. You can seek advice from the
secretariat for specific needs.
We look forward to welcoming you in Nairobi.
