3. What is it?
• A music download and streaming service provided by
Library Ideas LLC (not all libraries have access to both).
• The downloads are DRM-free MP3 files or MP4 video files,
they can be used on multiple devices, burned on CD and
are yours to keep.
• Each cardholder is entitled to a set number of downloads
per week (typically 3 or 5, with a music video counting as
2).
• Streaming music can be done both through the app and the
website. Users are given a daily allotment related to the
number of weekly downloads (ie if you’re allowed 3
downloads weekly, you’ll be able to stream 3 hours of
music a day).
4. Things to Know
• Users must navigate to Freegal using the link on their
library’s website; bookmarking the page won`t work.
• Your computer’s settings and your web browser will
determine where the files are saved on your computer;
the Westford guide offers many useful tips for trying to
find the files.
• A Freegal App is available for iOS and Android; however
songs downloaded using the app will only play within
the app. If you wish to use Freegal MP3s with another
program or app you can download and save them to
your computer then transfer them to your device.

6. What is it?
• A digital publishing platform that allows users
to read magazines on computers, laptops and
mobile devices.
• Zinio was first available as paid service; they
have partnered with Recorded Books (through
their RB Digital platform) to offer ‘Zinio for
Libraries’. This is why patrons must create two
accounts when first setting up.
7. Things to Know
• Users must create both an RB Digital Gateway Account and a Zinio Account
using the same email address for both.
• There are Zinio Apps available for all the major platforms. For library users
the app is only a reader; they must use a web browser
and login through the link on their library’s webpage
to check-out issues to their account. Once the are
checked out they will appear in the app’s library but
will still need to be downloaded.
• Back issues are available for some titles
and issues you’ve downloaded don’t expire.
• There is no limit to how many patrons can
download a issue; your library has access
to unlimited ‘copies’.
• The ‘shop’ button in the app is active. If patrons
have an account with their ‘app store’ they can also
purchase magazines.

9. What is it?
• An eBook service also provided by Library
Ideas LLC (same company that offers Freegal).
• Uses a virtual currency called ‘tokens’ which
users exchange for downloads.
• Libraries set the number of tokens available to
their patrons each week.
• New releases and popular titles will be worth
more tokens.
10. Things to Know
• Like Overdrive, Freading makes use of Adobe Digital Editions to read
books on PC and transfer to eReaders so an Adobe ID is required.
• App is available for Apple but only as a reader, you must use a web
browser to select and check-out the title first.
• The Android App allows you to select, download and read titles all
within the app.
• Tokens will accumulate for a 4 week period, then unused tokens are
removed from your account.
• Titles can be renewed, either for free or for additional tokens.
