Project Description
Project
Electric bicycle propulsion system design and
development using Five phase BLDC motor.
Client Falco e Motors USA
Organization Strategic technology group
Duration 2012-2013
Role Project intern
Electric bicycle propulsion system’s ECU to be developed to control
multiphase BLDC motor and performing required communication interfaces
of bicycle application.
Contribution
As an hardware project intern was responsible for,
Electromagnetic design analysis: basic analysis of BLDC hub
motor to have an improvement in torque and power density and
reduction in motor and inverter weight, increase in efficiency
and reduction of cogging torque to meet 35Nm torque.
Simulation analysis: all channel PWM, low side, high side
simulation of three phase inverter, three phase back emf
simulation, current generation simulation, PI amplifier
simulation and power calculation simulation using PSPICE.
4. 4
Schematic development: improvisation on the existing
schematics, electronic design to meet strain guage and throttle
versions of ebikes.
Layout verification: 6 layer PCB design for better power and
current consideration.
Motor algorithm development and test: vissim HIL simulation
with scalar control for shortening code development time.
Back emf test
Load and no load tests.
