ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Title: Design and Analysis of Multi Storey Building
Description: Analyzing and Designing a multi-storied building envisaging the requirement of residential
building in the Bangalore city.
It consists of four floors with stilt floor for the parking area and including ground floor first second and third
floor of similar type consisting of two flats in a floor. Each flat is planned to have living room, two bedrooms,
kitchen, toilet and balcony. The planned structure contains number of cantilever which helps in effective
utilization of available area.

2. The four storey building is designed as a framed structure. The analysis of the frame is done by both manual
method and also by using software. Concrete of grade M20 and M30 and steel of 500 grade HYSD bars are
used as structural materials. The national building codes, IS456-2000 and SP16 design aid for RCC have been
used for analysis and design.
M.Tech project
Title: Study on the seismic design of Raft Foundation for a RC Multi Storey Building
Description: Analyzing and Designing a raft foundation for a multi-storied building. Earthquakes are the most
destructive of all natural hazards. Experiences in past EQ have shown that foundations of multi-storey have
suffered serious damages. The principal causes for these damages are due to inadequate design of foundations,
without considering the effects in the reduction of bearing capacity of underneath soil during seismic motion.
Raft foundations have shown better performances during the past earthquakes; hence it is important to the
behavior raft under the seismic forces and apply the same in the design practice.
A G+5 multi-storey building is analyzed in ETABS software to estimate the loads coming onto the foundation. A
seismic design of raft foundation taking into the account the seismic forces. Comparison is carried out for rigid
and flexible design approaches. An attempt has been made to understand the soil structure interaction at the
interface of the superstructure and substructure.
