History of Katana.  Was been created since the Kamakura period. Earliest history of swords, made in the 30th century  Early Bronze Era Sword Influence by swords that were evolving in China. Designed to be an improvement to the Tachi. (a longer and curvier sword ) .
Usage Sharpness was tested on actual flesh. Different cutting method. Variations: Wakizashi (A shorter blade) Back-Up weapon or Ritual Suicide. Nodachi (Much longer blade) Field Combat. Died off during 1615.   Zanbato (Longer Thicker Blade) Field Combat. Yoroi Toshi (Shorter Thicker Blade) Combat. Ninjato Combat.
Presently Ceremony Battojitsu: Engaging the sword. Kenjutsu: Fighting with the sword after its drawn. Iaido: Quick Draw. Iaijitsu: Anything after quick draw. Kendo: Offensive stance all power strikes. Tachiuchi: sparring (bokken) Tameshigiri: practice with real swords. Entertainment
