Tenshin Shōden Katori Shintō-ryū is one of the oldest extant Japanese martial arts, founded in the late 14th century by Iizasa Chōi-sai Ienao after receiving martial secrets from a scroll during 1000 days of training at Katori Shrine. The style, known as the "Heavenly True, Correctly Transmitted Style of the Way of the God of Katori", trained battle techniques for samurai including kenjutsu, iaijutsu, kodachi, naginatajutsu, shurikenjutsu, and sujutsu.
