This document discusses three prejudices about using second-hand furniture in design projects and what was learned from the k-Haus project. It was learned that with the right partners and design process, second-hand furniture can create an appealing space and tell a story. Proper cost management is required for scouting, design iterations, logistics, and upcycling. Collaboration with partners and clients is also key. While second-hand items are not always readily available, a good network of furniture sources and specialists is needed to transform pieces into something unique within budget and timeline constraints.
