Those who claims that jyotish
is not vedic and doubt on its
authentication
every
time.
Please do read this.. This article
is written by krishna kumar
Bagri ,A great astrologer who
has vast experience in this field.I
wish to share this which make
things clear.
Jyotish is Ved-Anga
Vedas have six Angas
1. Shiksha 2.Kalpa 3. Nirukta
4. Vyakaran 5. Chhanda and 6.
Jyotish
Some Astrologers have a
misunderstanding that Jyotish
is not a part of the Ved,
which is utterly a nonsensical
misunderstanding.
Had these
Astrologers been well read, and
done their homework, probably
this air of disbelief would not
have risen since last few years.
Through this post I attempt to
reinstate the fact that the Jyotish
which we are into is indeed a
Vedanga Jyotish.

1) The 4th Mantra of the 8th
Sookta of the 10th Kanda of
the Atharva Veda talks about
the Chakra (Zodiac), with 12
Pradhayas (Spokes or the 12 Parts
– Signs ) and 360 Nails ( Degrees
of the Zodiac). It also talks of the
3 Nabhies which is nothing but the
points of the ellipse (which is But
the Zodiac which is not an exact
circle but Conical) (One can read
about the ellipse in the Wikipedia
for further information). (who says
that Jyotish was not known to the
Ancinet Vedic people after reading
this ?)
2) In the 19th Kanda of the Atharva
Veda, the 10th Mantra speaks about
getting grace from the Moon, the
Sun, and from Rahu and Ketu too.
(Now from wherefrom Rahu came
in the picture if the Ancients did not
knew about it they would not have
spoken about it)
3) In the Rig veda, the 11th Mantra
of the 51st Sookta of the first
Mandal, talks about association of
Heart Diseases related to the Sun.
This Mantra requests the Sun to

destroy all Heart troubles to any native. (If
this is Not Jyotish, then what is?)

(Don’t we have Venus as the karaka for
Semen in our Jyotish?)

4) The Mantra 13th from the same sookta as
above talks about “Strength and Prowess”
being related to the Sun. and requests the
Sun to grant power so as enable one to kill
his enemies. (If this is not Jyotish then what
is?)

N.B. I have more than a 100 such references.
But who has so much time to put It here ?
And whats the payment ? and for whom ?
For the Non believers ? Not a Big reward
!!!

5) The 1st Mantra of the 115th sookta of
the Rigveda speaks of the Sun as the Atma.
(Don’t we treat the Sun as the same in
Jyotish?)
6) Mantra 89 of 4th Sookta of the 18th
kanda of the Atharvaveda relates the Moon
to a Watery core. (Don’t we treat the Moon
as Watery in Jyotish?)
7) The Bhagavd Gita, Chapter 15 Shloka 13
also talks about the Moon as being Watery
and nourishing all Planets – vegetable
(Don’t we have the same reference in
Jyotish too)?
8) Yajurveda Chapter 15 and Mantra 54
mentions about Budh being related to
consciousness (Don’t we have Mercury
related to Intelligence in our Jyotish ?)
9) Yajurveda Chapter 19 Shloka 75 talks
about the Planet Venus and its relation to
the accumulations of Semen in the body.

I also have more than a 50 references to
the relation of nakshatras to our Jyotish,
in the Vedas. But again what is the reward
for putting it all here ? Those who believe
it matters for them, and those who don’t
believe, they don’t matter for us.
Yet I have made simple, humble
accumulations of data available which has
taken ne about an hour’s time to write. If I
spend another few hours then I could write
more.
I also have the relevant Shlokas with me
but to type them in Google transliteration
is a headache because this is not Hindi but
advanced Sanskrit. And to scan them all
from various sources, also is not worth the
trouble.

only shows some particular planet has
come… that makes synchronization of

you are also in a traffic and you are unable to move.. and when your internet

10th observation- why our internet stops
working suddenly, and speed slowes
down.. and after sometime it works fine..

uestion: Is Guru Diksha necessary? Does
Guru Diksha has many forms? One can
learn even without Diksha. Then why is Guru
Diksha so important?

A

nswer: For a common man nothing is
important or necessary. But if a human
wishes to rise high in life, if he wants to stop
leading an animal existence and become really
human then he needs a powerful medium to
guide him. He needs a guide who could tell him
which Sadhana is good for him, which Mantra
best suits him, how he should chant the Mantra
and how he can get rid of the obstacles that
might arise in life..Only a Guru can explain
all this correctly. Every person has two paths
to follow in life. A Guru is like a milestone
who guides the Sadhak onto the right path and
tells him that this is the path for you. Just as a
married life is important in this world, similarly

to progress in spiritual life one needs the
guidance of a Guru.
Question: What is the relation between Guru
and a disciple like and how does it start?
Answer: The relationship between a Guru and
a disciple begins on the material plane but it
culminates in the spiritual world, in the world
of Sadhanas, on the plane of totality. Guru is the
formless divine element. And a disciple wishes
to devote himself fully in the feet of the divine.
Lest he loses his way in this world he needs
a Guru’s guidance constantly. Kabir has said
that Guru is one’s master and being a disciple
means devoting oneself fully in the feet of the
Guru.
Question: What is the disciple’s duty towards
the Guru?
Answer: The disciple has just one duty towards
the Guru and the Guru too has just one duty
towards the disciple. Disciple means one who
is disciplined and totally devoted towards the
Guru. Guru’s duty is to fuse the disciple into
his own form and make him divine like himself.
Question: Can the Guru be one’s deity?
Answer: Deity means some force or energy
in one’s life that is Supreme. One wishes to
become one with the deity. If the disciple is so
devoted then he can consider the Guru to be his
deity. In fact such a feeling makes one a really
good disciple. If such is one’s feeling then one
can progress very fast towards one’s goal.
Question: If a husband and a wife both take
Diksha from the same Guru then does that
make them brother and sister?

Answer: No! The relation of brother-sister
and husband-wife are emotional. The relations
differ because of differences in one’s feelings.
With one a person has physical relation and
with the other one is attached as a kin. A wife
and a sister both are women. The difference is
of feelings. In Muslims one is even allowed to
marry one’ s cousin while in the Hindus this is
prohibited. It is the feelings which matter more.
In the world of Sadhanas when a person gets
Diksha it is not a social relation that is formed.
It is a relation on the spiritual plane. On the
spiritual plane the worldly relations like that
of brother, sister, wife, husband do not exist
because all are just souls on that level. Hence
after Diksha no difference comes in the material
relations although on the spiritual plane all are
equal and no relations exist.
Question: When there are so strict tests to test
a disciple then are there tests for a Guru too?
Answer: One who is a Guru today must have
been a disciple earlier and he too must have
undergone severe tests. This is why when a
Guru is testing a disciple then the Guru’s worth
and his level is also tested. A disciple who fears
such test cannot progress. Such an individual is
only fit to lead an animal existence of passion
and pleasures. Only those who have the guts
to face all tests, who have a determination in
their eyes are eligible to walk on the great path
of spirituality, Only those who can walk miles
without complaining can reach the highest
pinnacle of success in life.
Question: Can a disciple who has had Diksha
from one Guru get Diksha from another Guru?
Would this be a sin?
Answer: If you realize it then you will know
that becoming ‘a disciple means trying to, attain
to totality in life. Till the disciple has attained to
totality in life neither his efforts nor the Guru’s
work shall be appreciated. Hence the disciple
should never nurture evil thoughts for the Guru
and he should get Diksha from the master with
a pure heart. He should get Dikshas from a
great soul to make his life materially successful
and for attaining spiritual success. One should
try and attain to totality in this very life. Lord
Shree Ram was the disciple of Vashishtth and
yet he also went on to become the disciple of
Vishwamitra. Even Lord .Krishna who was the

disciple of Sandeepan went on to get Diksha
from Yogiraj Gunnaateetaanand and reached
Siddhashram.
Question: What is the use of Mantras and
Tantra in the present scientific age?
Answer: Scientific age does not mean
becoming limited in one’s perception. There
are many mysteries which science has not yet
been able to solve. Mantra and Tantra can be
used to solve the same. Science believes that
what we see is the truth and if something cannot
be observed then it cannot be true. Let me ask
you something. You know that the name of
your father is Han Shankar Sharma. How do
you know he is you father? Can science prove
it? Is there any need to prove it? You know Han
Shankar Sharma is your father because all those
around you have told you so. And you firmly
believe this in this scientific age. You proudly
call Han Shankar Sharma you father when the
fact is that you never saw him becoming your
father. The people of your house told you so
and you believed them. Quite similarly being
the head of this spiritual family I am telling
you that Mantra and Thantra are very authentic.
Through them one can progress greatly in life.
This fact is as true as the fact that the person
you call your father is your father.
Question: When we tell our friends, relatives
and others that we are accomplishing Sadhanas
or we chant Mantras they make fun of us. What
should we do?
Answer: When a very simple minded person
walks down the street the dogs start to bark at
him. You can yourself guess what he should do
in this situation. If he throws a stone at a dog
then four more dogs shall join them because it
is their nature to bark. He might even call out
to them lovingly or offer them food but they
will not stop barking. A determined person is
not affected by this. He neither changes his path
nor does he slow down. It is the habit of people
to criticize others and to laugh at others. They
do not have any work. They want to show they
are something and hence they take to criticizing
others. Let me tell you that even the Nobel
prize winner Wen Swimer, American scientist
Ginan Jirmi and famous geologist Aram Hill
have great faith in Mantras. They spend some
time daily in worship. Not just this the father of

modem science, Albert Einstein, accepted the
presence of the divine,
Question: We try many Sadhanas but we do not
get results. What is the reason for this?
Answer: Every person wants to become rich
like Birla and Tata. Everyone wants to be
powerful like the political leaders. Many want
to be scientists. But all do not succeed. The
reason is that they do not fully concentrate in
the fulfillment of their aim. A person often tries
many things at one time. His energy dissipates
and he does not get the desired result or the
results are delayed. Birla, Tata, or the scientists
or famous men are humans with two hands,
two feet and two eyes just like you and us. The
difference is that they remain fully concentrated
in their aim, while we try to do many things or
our efforts are not concentrated. When you try
a Sadhana become fully immersed in it. Just
think about it constantly. If this happens then
sure enough you shall attain the desired level
of success. There are thousands of Sadhaks
whose letters the magazine has received who
have attained the success in Sadhanas. If they
can succeed then sure enough you can succeed
too. All you need is patience, concentration and
full devotion.

Question: Why do people fear the word Tantra?
Answer: Why do people fear a wire carrying a
440 volt current? The reason is that as soon as
it is touched with naked hands one gets a shock
and one could even die. But we cannot say that
electricity is useless or dangerous, because it
makes life so easy. Similarly Tantra produces
results immediately and is a very powerful
system. Action and reaction in it is immediate.
But if used with wisdom then through it
the whole life could be made comfortable,
successful and prosperous.
Question: We try to chant Mantras devotedly
but we are not able to concentrate. What should
we do?
Answer: Present age is of deceit, fraud lies and
hence we have no control over our minds. Till
we are not free of these we cannot concentrate
the mind. For concentrating the mind there is
no medicine or potion or process. The best way
is to get up early in the morning before sun rise
and have a bath. Then one should sit in the open
in loose clothes and try to become thoughtless.
Try to remove all thoughts from the mind. With
regular practice you shall be able to achieve the
state of thoughtlessness.After some days you
shall have full control over your mind and then
you shall be able to concentrate in Sadhnas.
Question: Why can’t success be had at the very
first attempt?
Answer: Sadhanas have a
set procedure, a method,
a fixed series of actions
without following which
one could never achieve
the desired goal. There
are many people who
have attained success in
Sadhanas by adopting
Sadhana procedures. And
if Mantra-Tantra-Yantra
are part of a science then
it cannot be that one
person shall gain success
through it while the other
shall fail The reason for
failure is that the Sadhak
does not have experience.
One needs to adjust radio
to a particular frequency

to tune in a station. If, for example, station is
available at 500 KHz then even 499 or 501
could mean failure to catch the station. Same
is case with Sadhanas. If our soul is not able to
link properly or there is noise around or Mantra
recital is not clear then success remains elusive.
One may be on the verge of success but it might
slip out of one’s hands due to such reasons.
However, if one tries again he can reach that
point for if he can touch 499 or 501 he can also
reach 500. And then the divine power shall be
his.
Question: How does Mantra chanting helps?
Answer: It is a scientific fact that any word or
sound that escapes a person’s lips resonates
throughout the universe and can never be
erased. Even impossible looking tasks can
be achieved through the right resonance. Dr.
Fristolov demonstrated how a vibration can
be produced in the cells of one’s body through
the medium of sound resonance. Through
these resonances even physical ailments can be
cured. Even the size of vegetables and produce
increased by playing sweet music regularly
in the fields. Mantra recital too produces
a particular sound resonance that spreads
throughout the ether, a very fast medium. For
example when a Sadhak chants the Mantra
related to the sun then the sound resonance
reaches the sun in a few moments and after
striking it return having gathered from the sun a
part of its special power. And when these strike
the Sadhak’s body the power is transferred into
him. Thus the Mantra produces its effect on the
Sadhak’s body, mind and soul. It is important
to note, however that till there is not the right
frequency in the sound it shall not be able to
travel to the sun or bring back its power. Hence
correct pronunciation is extremely important.
Question: What is the importance of Guru
Initiation (Diksha) ?
Answer: Diksha or an initiation is a process of
consecration of a disciple through which his
body becomes astrally transformed day by day
and is finally fit enough to express those infinite
potentials of cosmic energy that constitute the
first materially active expression of the spirit. A
human is always in dark until he gets anchored
to the Divine through the blessing of initiation
conferred by a Guru.

Question: Is a Guru essential for everyone and
for attaining totality of life ?
Answer: Certainly. The Guru is the foremost
requirement for a man seeking exhaltion of
human life. A disciple is spiritually magnetised
by the reverent contact with a Guru; a subtle
current is generated. The disciple’s undesirable
habit mechanisms in the brain are often
cauterised; the grooves of his worldly tendencies
are beneficially disturbed. Momentarily he
finds the veil of Maya lifting and glimpses
the reality of bliss.Actually a Guru is present
in the inner conscience of his disciple. A Guru
who is physically present before a disciple,
enable the disciple to have a vision of the Guru
present within his inner conscience and as soon
as the disciple perceives the magnificent form
of Guru within his inner core, his spiritual
progress begin.
Question: It is said that in the previous life
a disciple has had already been linked with
the Guru of his present life and Guru of the
previous lives again meets and associates
with his disciple. If it is true then what causes
delinking of a disciple with the Guru of his
previous births and why the disciple has to
make efforts in locating and meeting his Guru ?
Answer: It is true that a disciple is linked with
his Guru since many previous lives. The Guru
of previous life remains the Guru in the present
life, but when the disciple is born, due to his
upbringing he forgets his Guru and on getting
maturity starts his search for his Guru.One
remains enveloped by uncertainties till he finds
the Guru of his previous life. At that moment
his spiritual revelations begin instantaneously
and the feeling of respect and surrender to the
Guru gets stronger. He gets bliss in his Guru’s
presence and remains ever keen to make
maximum sacrifices and this happens when one
gets linked with the Guru of previous birth.
Question: Where does the Guru-disciple
relationship begin and where does it mature ?
Answer: In reality this relationship commences
when a disciple contacts the Guru for his
materialistic problems and later this culminates
into a spiritual relationship. The Guru element
is a formless element before which a disciple
makes complete surrender and because of this,
initiation by the Guru is considered the first
basic requirement of the spiritual aspirant.

Learning in absence of a Guru is like a woman
getting pregnant in her husband’s absence,
which is illegitimate and impractical. Similarly
systematic learning is possible only through a
Guru. On receiving initiation, the Guru-disciple
relationship is established and this leads to
success in life.
In life, Guru may exist in many forms as father,
brother, master or servant. In Gita, Lord Krishna
says, “You can consider me as a father, brother
or husband which implies that I shall bestow
my grace in accordance with your views and
feelings”.Some people seek initiation from
Guru for their selfish interests, for getting cured
from diseases or just for fun sake whereas
there are some people who sincerely desire to
attain totality and the Guru fulfils their wishes
according to the feelings they have for their
Guru.
Question: After receiving initiation from the
Guru, I did the Mantra Japa for a long time but I
did not derive any success. Now my confidence
is shaken. What are the reasons behind my
failure? How can I know as to which Mantra
shall suit me ?
Answer: It is like one marrying many times
but none of the marriage is successful. For a
successful married life there must be a perfect
unison between husband and wife. Similarly in
case of Mantra, one should identify the ideal
Mantra and then emotionally integrate himself
with that Mantra. Secret of success in Mantra
Sadhna lies in ceaseless practice of chanting
till the aspirant reaches his destination. In
materialistic life one can go on marrying and
changing wives but in the spiritual life this rule
does not hold good. One Guru, one Mantra and
one pattern of Sadhna are the cardinal points
of success.
Question: Is it essential to include Yantra in
Sadhna practices? How does a Yantra help in
attainment of optimum success ?
Answer: A Yantra is very significant and
peculiar in itself because each Yantra has its
own ‘Aura’ (That essence which emanates from
all living things and affords an atmosphere for
occult phenomena). The aura shown in pictures
around the faces of Lord Rama and Krishna
is not imaginary instead it is a real subtle

emanation. Recently, the Killian couple of
Russia has invented a new technique of viewing
this aura. After taking thousands of photographs
of different persons they have concluded that
each person and object has its own aura but
due to our narrow vision, we cannot see that
aura.. A Yantra also possesses its own aura
due to which during recitation of Mantra, the
Mantra remains in close coordination with its
Yantra. The Mantra, by getting reflected from
its Yantra, creates a specific atmosphere which
is essential for the success of the aspirant.
If a Yantra is engraved properly and is also
sanctified, enlivened and energised with special
Mantras, it imparts a definite influence and
therefore it is essentially included in Sadhna
practices.
Question: What is the secret behind the use of
rosary during Sadhna practices ?
Answer: As I have mentioned earlier that each
object has its aura which co-ordinates itself
with the aura of the aspirant. The rosary used in
Sadhna or worship is not to count the number
of recitations of Mantra instead it is purposely
used to get the desired success. A rosary of Tulsi
(Basil) is used for devotion and that of coral is
used to eliminate the ailments concerned with
hypertension. In the same way, a rosary of
Rudraksha is helpful for getting tranquility and
a successful meditation. A rosary of rock crystal
has the property of attracting the sound waves
and consequently it is recommended for every
Sadhna. During the performance of Sadhna,
when the rosary is in the hands of aspirant, it’s
aura gets linked up with that of the aspirant and
union of these two auras offers concentration
to the aspirant which proves beneficial for
achieving the desired success.
Question: Does a defective pronunciation of
Mantra impart any adverse effect ?
Answer: No, this is not the case. Firstly, it should
be kept in mind that the recital of Mantra must
be clear and correct and for this purpose, the
aspirant should learn the correct pronunciation
in the guidance of a competent Guru but even
if it is not possible, there is no obstacle during
chanting. In case of faulty pronunciation, the
effect may be mitigated but there should be
no suspicion in the mind about the harmful
consequences of faulty recitation or defective
pronunciation

Question: What is the role of faith during
Sadhna practice ?
Answer: Faith is an excellent faculty of the
mind and a moving force in spiritual field. It
is the wealth of an aspirant. If the Sadhna is
performed with the power of faith, the aspirant
attains quick and sure success. On making
gradual and continuous efforts, this faith
increases spontaneously and confers a strong
base in the personality of the aspirant.

deeds of the Guru gets transferred to the disciple
and all the accumulated sins of the disciple
gets transferred to the Guru. Consequently on
this account the Guru has to pay in terms of
difficulties and pains for the misdeeds and sins
of the disciples. It is because of this fact that
a Guru initiates a limited number of disciples
so that the Guru’s sufferings on account of the
disciple’s sins are minimized.

Question: What is Guru Purnima and its
importance ?
Answer: Anniversaries of great saints, holy
days are celebrated once a year. Similarly all
Gurus of the world have been allotted a day in
the year for them. It is Purnima day. Purnima
is a full moon day and Guru means remover of
darkness. This day, Guru removes ignorance of
the disciple, enlightens him and provides him
luminousness of a full moon, that is why this
day is called Guru Purnima. This day disciples
collect and completely surrender before their
Guru and in turn Guru confers upon them the
enlightenment they need.

Question: When the capable Guru possessing
divine attainments is observed undergoing
pains and sufferings, faith in him gets shaken
up. Why do they suffer at all ?
Answer : If in materialistic context, a disciple’s
faith in Guru gets shaken then the one who is
initiated is just pretending to be a disciple. A
disciple is an integrated part of the Guru and
he shares the joy and sorrow of his Guru. A
spiritual superman is able to minimize the
physical and mental troubles of his disciples by
assuming a part of their Karmic burdens. Just as
a rich man relinquishes some money when he
pays off a debt for his prodigal son, who is thus
saved from direct consequences of his folly, so a
Guru willingly sacrifices a portion of his bodily
wealth to lighten the misery of the disciples.
Patanjali in his famous treatise on Yoga clearly
states that by taking the responsibilities of a
disciple, the Guru in material life, has to face
shortages, difficulties and suffers pains. In
reality this is an illusory cover and an illusory
scene for a disciple that the Guru has a problem
on account of his disciple’s action. Such
disciple is fortunate who gets a Guru of high
order and becomes free of the consequences of
his misdeeds and sins. When you are a disciple,
pains are problems of the Guru should get to
your heart and in such situations, it becomes
your moral duty to come forward and extend
your full co-operation and to give to your Guru
maximum affection.

Question: Those, who dedicate their lives at
the feet of the Guru on Guru Purnima day are
called ‘Jeevan Dani’, what does this mean ?
Answer: After receiving initiation, the disciple
surrenders his body, soul and every thing he
possesses, at the feet of his Guru. But in the
busy modern life, the disciple along with his
family lives hundreds of kilometres away from
his Guru and in such circumstances the process
of disciple’s submergence into the Guru gets
hampered.According to the norms obtained
from the Shastras, some disciples renounce
their position, prestige, house, wealth and come
to the Guru’s residence for ever either alone or
with their wives. Such persons do not have any
desire or ambition and such self sacrificing
disciples are called Jeevan Dani. They attain
dizzy heights at the appropriate time and shine
like the Sun.
Question: Is it true that the Guru has to suffer
on account of disciple’s actions ?
Answer: It is absolutely true. The Guru-disciple
relationship is very deep. When strong links
get established between the souls of disciple
and Guru, their inner consciences get merged

Question: How can those disciples, who are
not resident in Guru Ashram, serve their Guru ?
Answer: Serving the Guru stands for soul
purification, while living away from the Guru,
he can be served by following his directives.
Most of the Guru’s time is spent in thinking,
attaining still higher spiritual elements and
doing penance. In such circumstances, one

should look to the material needs of the Guru,
such that the Guru is able to give his maximum
time for creative purposes. Therefore, the
disciple should send portion of his income
every month or year to the Guru. On the Guru’s
birthday or Guru Purnima, the disciple should
go to Guru’s Ashram and serve his master.
Propagation of literature authored by the Guru
among friends and relatives or co-operation
in publication of such works is the disciple’s
paramount obligation and thus the disciple can
serve his Guru.
Question: Who is a Sadhak? Who is eligible
to do Sadhana? What are the virtues of a good
Sadhak?
Answer: A Sadhak is one who is aware of the
science of Tantra and Mantra. The world of
Sadhana discriminates not between a man and
a woman. Both are equally eligible to try any
ritual.A small success cannot raise one up in life;
only Sadhanas can bring total success. Sadhana
means directing all one’s energy - conscious
and sub conscious - towards one goal. One who
musters all energy and will power and speeds
like an arrow towards one’s goal is known as
a Sadhak. Only such an individual can achieve
the highest level of success.The foremost
requirement of being a Sadhak is concentrated
thoughts - one’s mental power must not be
spewing in different directions. When one has
a composite mind the goal no longer appears to
be distant. Then one is not annoyed or troubled
by trifle problems, then hopelessness never
pervades his life and he keeps moving ahead,
resting not till he has reached his destination.
Only such a individual can be called a Sadhak.
Only such a person can outshine millions of
fellow beings. There can be no doubt that such
a level of success is impossible without divine
help, but pleading or begging cannot secure
such help for an individual. For that one has
to brim over with manliness and confidence. A
true Sadhak’s motto is “Shareeram Saadhyati
Va Paatyati” i.e. I shall secure success or I
shall die in the process. This spirit of do or die,
this feeling of challenge makes one a Sadhak.
Only such an individual can attain spiritual
success and in the process material success as
well. One has to kick all problems and move
forward for achieving success. One who can
even look death in the eye, one who feels free

of all worldly shackles and handicaps can be a
real Sadhak.

Question: Generally we believe that no sooner
do we get Diksha from the Guru we become
disciples. Is this the real meaning of the term
Diksha or does it have a deeper meaning? What
had Gurudev to say about being a disciple?
Answer: You say that you are a disciple. But
know it that disciple is a stage after a Sadhak.
The word disciple is synonymous to Upanishad
which means sitting close. To whom? To the
Guru! One who seeks the company of the Guru,
gathers pearls of precious knowledge from
him, and thus tries to strike a perfect balance of
mind is a disciple. One who has merged his self
totally into the Guru is a disciple.
Just bowing to him won’t make you a disciple,
getting Diksha too won’t. Guru Diksha is only
an attempt to get closer to the Guru, but one
really does when one devotes oneself fully in
his feet, when one feels divine love blooming
in one’s heart.
A disciple is one who values every word of
the Guru, who always takes the path shown by
the master. To obey is the duty of a disciple argument mars his claim to discipleship. The
second duty of a disciple is service to the Guru
i.e. becoming instrumental in his mission.
Only one who serves and is obedient is a true
disciple. One who actively completes the task
assigned to him by the Guru is a true disciple.
The process of becoming a disciple is very
difficult. One has to be egoless and have a
spirit of do or die. One who envisions the Lord
in the Guru’s form is a real disciple. A Guru
may not call you, but a disciple rushes to him
whenever he can. Service and total devotion are
the virtues which make one a disciple and one
who gains these jewels is envied even by Gods.

BLACK MAGIC BANISHED
My daughter Dipika was married on 30 June
1999 in Edison NJ, USA . In her husband’s
home some evil practices were tried on her
and she became half mad. I became very much
troubled by her condition. Then one of my
friends Gender Ram gave me the magazine
“ Karma” and advised me to meet Swamiji
Sri Selvam Siddhar On 23 Feb 2013 I met
Gurudev and my family took Guru Diksha.. For
my daughter Gurudev suggested that Atharva
Vedic Maha Yagnas and varioius mantras to be
chanted and advised us to chant for one whole
month. My daughter chanted the Mantra . On
14 April she offered oblations in the holy fire.
Soon I came to know that her in-laws were
no longer demanding dowry. They came and
accepted their mistake and took my daughter
home. On 2nd June she gave birth to a boy.

SAVED BY SIDDHAR’S GRACE
On 2nd August 2012 I had a heart attack. My
family took me to the hospital in St Louis ,
MO, USA I took Guru Diksha four years ago
from Swamiji Siddhar Ji. Some time back I
had also taken Mahasoolini Diksha. from him.
I told my family members to chant the Maha
soolini mantra . I was lying in a room and I felt
as if Gurudev was there performing a Yagna. I
regained consciousness on 7th and I felt as if
Gurudev had just offered the final oblation in
the fire. He tied a Mouli (holy red thread) to my
bed and said now there is no danger.I started to
recover from that very day. The attendants in
the hospital said that they could smell a strange

I obtained Diksha from Swamiji Sri Selvam
Siddhar ji in 2002. Since then I have been
regularly chanting Guru Mantra. Our family
has many enemies. We were confused what
we should do. We did not know how to escape
them.Then Swamiji Sri Selvam Siddhar
ji suggested that to defeat all enemies we
should try with some Atahrva Thantra RitualsSadhana. We procured the Sadhana articles
and started the Sadhana. We accomplished the
Sadhana and today the enemies dare not harm

GURU SAVES LIFE
It was delightful to join the Guru Poomnima
Sadhana Camp of Baytown, Texas, USA this
year . we were all taking a ride around the city
in my son’s car. Along with my wife there were
some relatives too.Suddenly a child came in the
way. To avoid hitting it the driver swerved the
auto to one side. However it overturned and was
badly damaged. But none of us were seriously
injured. Some received minor injuries. May
Gurudev protect us thus always.When we got
out and looked at the auto we could not believe
that we were alive. It had come to rest on the
edge of a huge drain. If it had crashed into it
we would certainly have perished because it
had been raining heavily for the past few days
and the drain was overflowing. May Gurudev’s
grace shower on us always.

ALL BY GURU’S GRACE
In December as directed by you I started the
Atharvana Soolini Rituals in order to complete
chanting of its Mantra. I did the Rituals both
in the morning and at night. When I started
the Mantra chanting all was fine. Fifteen days
went by but I had no divine experience. But
suddenly one day my body became tense
and my hand telling the beads of the rosary
stopped. There was intense pain in the whole
body. I could hardly hold the rosary. Then
I clearly heard a woman’s voice. I could not

understand what was going on. Then again
my fingers started to move and I resumed the
Mantra chanting. That night I felt very light.
I realized that Mother Yakshini Soolinii was
there somewhere nearby. Thus I completed
chanting in 21 days. I had to perform oblations
twelve thousand times in the holy fire. Along
with other disciples of Swamiji Siddhar Ji
we started the Yagna. The Yagna had just
started when suddenly a milky light appeared
in the room. One of the disciples even took a
photograph of the divine light, Then there was
a loud knocking at the door. When the door was
opened there was no one there. When the Yagna
was over the sweets were distributed. After
some days when the negatives were developed
we clearly saw the form of Goddess Bathala
Bhairavi in the picture of the holy fire. It is all
due to the grace of revered Swamiji Siddhar Ji
that I could accomplish such a tough Rituals.
When we were singing a hymn, in the end
one of the disciples became so overwhelmed
by the divine atmosphere that she suddenly
shouted - Gurudev is here! Sing loudly! Thus
this wonderful Rituals was accomplished with
amazing experiences. May revered Swamiji
Siddhar Ji always shower his grace on us.

GURU IN MY DREAMS
One night after I had gone to bed I had the
glimpse of Swamiji Siddhar Ji in a dream. I
saw a scene in which a Yagna was going on and
it was being performed by Swamiji Siddhar Ji
in the company of several disciples.
In the next scene I saw Swamiji Siddhar Ji
with both palms joined seated before the Yagna
fire. Gurudev was chanting Yakshini Bhairavi
Mantra. In the third scene I saw that Gurudev
had raised his right hand in blessing and he was
seated three feet above the ground. A divine
radiance was pouring out from his hand and
eyes. The brightness of the light made me shut
my eyes. The next morning when I saw the
rising sun I realized that the light I had seen in
the dream was even more bright than the sun.
I felt blessed on having the glimpse of revered
Swamiji Siddhar Ji. I hope he keeps blessing
me all my life.

BROTHER GETS CURED
I live in a small town near to Calgary Canada
I live with my parents and three brothers. I
lost one of my brothers in an accident which
some say was caused by some evil force used
on him. Now we are only three brothers. My
elder brother too had become prey to some
such forces and he used to remain mentally ill.
Medical help would make him recover for a
few days and then again he would lapse into the
prior state. Last year in May he became totally
mad. We took him to an expert physician His
medicines would render him senseless but on
regaining consciousness he would again start
behaving strangely. We could not think what to
do. Then I called up Swamiji Siddhar Ji One
of the disciples there told me that Gurudev
was in Georgia and he had been told about
the problem. Gurudev had assured that he
would soon be fine. And truly due to Swamiji
Siddhar Ji’s grace he is fine now. We even had
him get Diksha and due to the effect of Diksha
and Rituals he is perfectly alright. Truly it is a
miracle that he has recovered. We are grateful
to Swamiji Siddhar Ji.

Beitool. In the month of September I obtained
Soubhaagyawati rosary which one’s wife
is supposed to wear. But she was having
her periods and so she could not wear it
immediately. In the month of October we were
going by jeep to the temple of the Goddess.
I was driving. With me was my family and
the families of two friends. In all there were
thirteen persons travelling. It was around 1
pm and the vehicle was cruising at a speed
of 70 mile per hour. Suddenly the jeep went
off the road and ploughing through bushes it
stopped at the edge of a field. I received some
injury on my lips. Other passengers were also
hurt but not much. The jeep was not damaged
at all. Following us were two scooters. They
stopped and asked if somebody was hurt. They
were surprised to find none was, for they had
thought at least one or two would have broken
some bones. I got first aid for my lips and then
we resumed our journey. It was due to Swamiji
Siddhar Ji’s blessings that we were saved, for
protecting us was the Soubhaagyawati rosary
worn by my wife and sent to us by Gurudev. I
bow in his holy feet.

MY DAUGHTER GETS BLESSED
I wish to share my experience with all readers.
My wife and I regularly get up at 4 am to
worship Swamiji Siddhar Ji and chant his
Mantra. One day our daughter insisted she too
would get up early to prepare for her ongoing
exams. We woke her up the next morning. We
started our daily worship while she started to
study on the ground floor. The main door to our
house was locked. Suddenly her attention was
drawn to the door and she saw revered Swamiji
Siddhar Ji in pure white Dhoti Kurta walking a
feet above the ground coming towards her. He
entered the room where we were doing Rituals.
Our younger daughter was sleeping by her side
whom she woke up saying - Priya, look who
has come! By then he had disappeared into the
room. When we had completed the worship she
told everything to us. May Swamiji Siddhar Ji
always bless us thus.

GLIMPSE OF GURUDEV NIKHIL
This event relates to 22nd August 2013. As
usual that day I was engaged in worship early
in the morning. Suddenly I had a very strange
experience. As I was chanting the Guru Mantra
my eyes closed on their own. I wanted to but
could not open them up. Thereafter I started to
chant the Chetana Mantra. I felt as if my body
had become lifeless. I also felt as if I was not
in my Rituals room rather I was somewhere
else where there was snow on all sides. Then
suddenly I saw Swamiji Siddhar Ji . He was
seated on a very clean and huge rock. His eyes
were closed and he was deep in Samadhi. Very
wonderful was the scene. For some moments
the scene remained before my vision and then
suddenly I opened my eyes to find myself at
home. It seemed as if I had travelled from
somewhere far. Tears were flowing incessantly
from my eyes and I was feeling very peaceful
at heart. I have had many experiences during
Mantra chanting but this experience was
unique. It was all due to the love and blessings
of Swamiji Siddhar Ji. I often feel the subtle
presence of Swamiji Siddhar Ji Nikhil. Many

I have been reading the magazine for the past
several years. I obtained Guru Diksha in the
Chaapaa Rituals Camp. In November last year
my second son got married. A month before
that I suddenly developed Sciatica pain. The
pain grew so much that I found it difficult even
to walk. Many expert doctors were consulted
but the pain grew worse. I became very worried
and one day while worshipping Gurudev I
prayed to him to cure me so that I could attend
the marriage of my son. I even sent a letter to
Gurudev to this effect. Then all of a sudden
I came into contact of a person who knew
about nerves and how to cure related ailments
through massage. The doctors advised me
against it but I went to the person for three days
and within three days I was fully cured. The
marriage went off well and I could participate
in it due to Gurudev’s grace. Today I am totally
healthy. I offer my prayers to Gurudev and ask
him to keep showering his grace on us always.

CHANGE OF FORTUNE BY DIKSHA
Through a photo I had Diksha from Jodhpur.
I obtained Bhagyoday Diksha at the Nikhil
Janmotsav Rituals Camp in Allahabad from
revered Gurudev Arvind Shrimali. At that
time I was having many financial problems.
Gurudev advised me to chant one round of
a Mantra daily for 31 days. As I continued
with the Rituals slowly a change appeared in
my circumstances. Suddenly I had success in
business too. Now due to Gurudev’s grace my
financial position has become a lot better. I and
my wife chant the Guru Mantra daily. Not just
this Swamiji Siddhar Ji saved my life twice. My
life was saved two times in different accidents.

LOVE OF THE GURU
I am a farmer of village Jaasalpur in
Hoshangabad. I used to work very hard in
my fields but the fruit of my labor was never
adequate before I have moved to California,

poor. I also found it difficult to sit in Rituals
and chant Mantras. So Swamiji Siddhar Ji

MY DREAMS
I decided that Swamiji Siddhar Ji would be my
final goal but I desperately needed a Guru. One
day a friend who had had Diksha from Swamiji
Siddhar Ji said that soon I will come across my
Guru. Some days later I saw a divine person
dressed in white robes in my dreams. Later I
went to Swamiji’s temple in Texas and there
I saw the photo of revered Swamiji Siddhar
Ji who had surprisingly come in my dream
before. I had come across many of his books
but I did not believe them. I pray to Swamiji
Siddhar Ji to forgive me for this. One night I
again had a dream. He had a divine presence
with light all over His body. He said – Amit,
I am always with you. Then He smiled. I got
a chance to touch His holy feet. There was a
very long line of Sadhaks to get his Darshan.
ven since I have been doing Rituals and I
have experienced many divine things. Another
disciple of Swamiji Siddhar Ji advised me
to read the magazine and to go to Jodhpur.
Certainly one day I shall visit there and take
Dikshas.

GURU’S GRACE
Poojya Gurudev has blessed me with Kriya
Yog Diksha and Kundalini Jagran Diksha. I am
now advancing through proper path by doing
Yog Rituals. I feel realization and Samadhi
are very near to me. In the evening of 10.-02-2013 I read certain books on Swamiji Siddhar
Ji. These Rituals are very difficult to perform at
present. With this thought I went to sleep. I saw

a dream in which Poojya Swamiji Siddhar Ji
visited me with four disciples. I bowed before
Him. I explained everything to Him about my
Yog Rituals programme and told Him about
some personal issues. Poojya Gurudev told
me that after attaining Samadhi you should
perform special Rituals for 108 Siddhis. He
also said that I should consider doing Door
Darshan Siddhi and Kritya Siddhi Rituals.
He directed me to refer to the book Practical
Hypnotism. After this He disappeared.

GURU HELPS ME OUT
This Navratri I decided to accomplish the
Astaakshari Durga Mantra Rituals as given
in the text Mantra Rahasya. But even till the
fourth day I could not concentrate myself
completely, nor could I chant the Mantra in the
prescribed number. There appeared obstacles
at each step. At last in desperation I called out
to Swamiji Siddhar Ji for help. At around 9
p.m. on the fourth day when I had cried my
heart out and become filled with hopelessness
suddenly Swamiji Siddhar Ji appeared before
me in a physical form. He touched His hand
on my forehead in blessing and said – What
shall you get by crying ? Have courage. You
shall surely succeed in Rituals. I lost all sense
of time and tears flowed incessantly from my
eyes. I fell in His holy feet and when I came
to my senses after a few minutes, I found
that He had disappeared. I started the Mantra
chanting with renewed energy. I felt as if a
new power surged through me. By the eighth
day my Rituals was accomplished. It was but
due to Swamiji Siddhar Ji’s grace that I could
complete the Rituals in time. I hope He keeps
blessing us thus in the future too.

GLIMPSE OF DIVINE
Due to some reason I could not attend the Guru
Poornnima Rituals Camp. I was feeling very
bad about this. Early in the morning I started
Guru Poojan and Guru Paduka Poojan. In
the evening with the start of Lunar eclipse I
commenced chanting of Guru Mantra. In the
night I had the divine Darshan of the three
revered Gurus. I also saw many wandering
souls approaching them to seek the right path

of progress. Poojya Swamiji Siddhar Ji was
also there carefully observing the proceedings.
I bowed devotedly in His feet. At the same
time tears flowed through my eyes and I prayed
silently to Swamiji Siddhar Ji to never let this
vision fade. It was a truly divine and soul
uplifting experience. I hope revered Swamiji
Siddhar Ji and the revered three Gurus keep
showering their divine grace upon us. Even a
bit of their kindness can work wonders for us.

GURU MANTRA THE MOST POWERFUL
Swamiji Siddhar Ji has given us three Mantras
for chanting at the time of Diksha, but I like
the Guru Mantra most. When I keep chanting
it for half an hour I am filled with a divine
resonance. I feel as if I am sitting in the lap of
mother nature. I start to vision beautiful sights
of mountains and some time I am transported
into the days of my childhood which I had
spent in Montana, USA where there are high
mountains, beautiful waterfalls and streams. I
feel like losing myself in the beauty of nature.
The Guru Mantra produces this effect and I am
very grateful for this. I have also realized that
Swamiji Siddhar Ji is but Nature.

POURINGS OF THE HEART
Following are some feelings that two disciples
have expressed for Swamiji Siddhar Ji –
O Swamiji Siddhar Ji, I do not know how
to call out to you for my voice is not sweet.
Should I call you Lord Vishnu or Ram, Should
I call you Shankar or Shyam. Should I call
you the creator of the new age or the Lord
who speaks in Gita. Should I call you the soul
of mankind or their saviour. Or should I call

After having Guru Diksha I have had great
spiritual and material success. In the year 2012
I had accomplished the Trishakti Rituals. I am
a forest guard posted in the Harada forest of
Madhya Pradesh. In the history of these forests,
there have been several encounters with
poachers and criminals in which four guards
lost their lives. Many guards have escaped
these attacks with injuries. The murderer of
one of the guards was absconding for the past
thirteen years and the police had failed to nab
him in spite of the best of their efforts. Catching
him had become a challenge for everyone. One
day I prayed to Swamiji Siddhar Ji and took the
pledge to catch him.
I asked for three days from my officers to
complete this impossible mission. I was
unlucky on the first two days and on the third

day too success seemed just as elusive. I had
given up hope and was resting in my home
having had food when I started to chant the
Guru Mantra. My eyes rested in the picture of
Swamiji Siddhar Ji that was placed in my room.
I prayed to Him to help me. All of a sudden
there was a throbbing in my naval region and
I got up. It s three o’ clock in the afternoon.
As if under a spell I left my house in search of
the culprit and within a few hours he was in
my custody. With Swamiji Siddhar Ji’s grace I
was able to nab a criminal who had continued
to evade the police for so many years. Now all
forest guards feel safe and after this there have
been no illegal activities.
On the Republic Day on 26th of January,
the Forest Officer awarded me a certificate
for valour and the District Collector and the
Police Chief also applauded my efforts. All
this has been possible only through the grace
of Swamiji Siddhar Ji.

SAVED FROM CERTAIN DEATH
A year back I and my friend were riding back
from some place on a scooter. We were in a
hurry to get back home and hence I was driving
very fast. Suddenly a Hero Honda motorcycle
emerged from a house on the roadside seated
on which was a two year old kid along with the

rider. Our scooter rammed into the back of the
bike. At that very instant I cried out to Gurudev
for help. I saw the girl being hurled about ten
feet in the air. Our scooter too skidded and we
fell down. As I got to my feet I was surprised
that I was not in the least hurt. My friend got
some injuries in the back and he had to get
treatment for two months. What was most
surprising was that the little girl was not hurt at
all. It seemed as if someone had caught her in
midair and gently placed her on the ground. I
believe that it was due to the grace of Swamiji
Siddhar Ji that neither I nor the girl was hurt.
We could both have been badly hurt but had
a miraculous escape. Even the rider of the
Hero Honda had to suffer for a week due to
the injuries.

and some other people and we were trying to
put a huge slab of stone into position. All of

There are many problems in getting
married. Nowadays getting married in
the prescribed age has become very
rare. There are a lot of reasons for
this. The major problem is called as
“Mars Dosha” or “Manglik”. There
is nothing wrong in being a Manglik.
Mangliks are normal people. Most
importantly, Mangliks should realize
that being a Manglik is not a matter
to be afraid of; it is not the end of the
world for them. Matters pertaining to
the intensity of the Manglik Dosha and
its cancellation play major roles and
these are to be studied deeply. Atharva
Veda has mentioned a lot about the
Manglik Dosha and the remedies for
overcoming the Manglik Dosha. One
of the biggest misconceptions and fears
in the Hindu society with respect to
marriage is the presence of Mars Dosha
or Kuja Dosha in the horoscope. Mars
Dosha occurs, when Mars is placed

autonomy. According to Atharva Veda
and Swamiji Sri.Selvam Siddhar (Dr.
Commander Selvam) these developmental
changes may be strongly influenced by
genetic factors and events during prenatal
life, genetics and prenatal development
are usually included as part of the study of
child development. Developmental change
may occur as a result of geneticallycontrolled processes known as maturation,
or as a result of environmental factors and
learning, but most commonly involves
an interaction between the two. Above
all these factors there is another invisible
factor that decides the nature of a kid.
That is astrology. According to Vedic
Astrology the Ascendant or lagna is the
most important factor to decide the life

A Hindu saint who was visiting river
Ganges to take bath found a group
of family members on the banks,
shouting in anger at each other. He
turned to his disciples smiled and
asked.
‘Why do people shout in anger shout
at each other?’Disciples thought for
a while, one of them said, ‘Because
we lose our calm, we shout.’ ‘But,
why should you shout when the other
person is just next to you? You can
as well tell him what you have to say
in a soft manner.’ asked the saint.
Disciples gave some other answers
but none satisfied the other disciples.
Finally the saint explained, .
‘When two people are angry at each
other, their hearts distance a lot. To
cover that distance they must shout
to be able to hear each other. The
angrier they are, the stronger they
will have to shout to hear each other
to cover that great distance.

What happens when two people fall in
love? They don’t shout at each other
but talk softly, Because their hearts
are very close. The distance between
them is either nonexistent or very
small...’ The saint continued, ‘When
they love each other even more, what
happens? They do not speak, only
whisper and they get even closer to
each other in their love. Finally they
even need not whisper, they only
look at each other and that’s all. That
is how close two people are when
they love each other.’
He looked at his disciples and said.:’So when you argue do not let your
hearts get distant, Do not say words
that distance each other more, Or
else there will come a day when the
distance is so great that you will not
find the path to return. They may end
up in divorce courts, for instance.’

It`s unpredictable, it`s uncanny. It may be
lurking within a body and the body wouldn`t
know. Many a minor ache, quietly ignored
and quickly discarded in the past, may be the
begetter of that which is pernicious, lethal
and detrimental to life. It shrouds itself in
dubious obscurity till the time comes for it to
reveal the first symptoms. All this while, the
fatal cell stealthily multiplies and spreads. It
disseminates its devastating influence till it
aborts the very functional mechanism of the
human body. Such is the effect of cancer.
Cancer is not a single disease. It is a large
and complex family of malignancies that
can affect virtually every organ in the
body. Cancer kills one out of every four
Americans, surpassed only by heart disease
as the leading cause of death in this country.

Over 1.2 million new cases are diagnosed
every year, with half of them occurring in
the lung, prostate, breast, colon and rectum.
Cancer can strike at any age, although it is
most common in people over 50.
There are around 200 different types of
cancer. Two in five people, at some point
in their lives, are susceptible to it. Cancer is
the term given to a large group of diseases
that vary in type and location. It is the result
of a continuous, abnormal and relatively
autonomous cell proliferation, which is due
to the permanent alteration of some cells
that gets transmitted to the cell family. It is
a disease caused by the loss of control over
a cell`s reproduction capacity.Rather than
dividing in a controlled and programed
manner, the cell continues to divide and
multiply abnormally, until a detectable lump
or tumor develops.
This new growth can be either benign or
malignant. A benign tumor does not spread,
or metastasize, to other parts of the body
and so are not cancerous. They can often

be removed and are rarely a threat to life. A
malignant tumor, however, can spread and
is cancerous. When this tumor spreads, its
malignant cells break off and travel through
the blood lymph system to other parts of
the body, resulting in a secondary tumor, or
metastasis. The name given to the cancer,
however, is reflective of the origination
of the cancer. For example, if lung cancer
spreads to the brain, the disease is still called
metastatic lung cancer, not brain cancer.
Both external and internal factors cause
cancer. Factors such as chemicals, radiation,
viruses, hormones and inherited mutations
may act together to start or further cancer.
Ten or more years may pass between
exposure and detectable cancer.
Anyone, from children to senior citizens can
get this disease. What causes cancer in the
first place, and how quickly the cells grow
and spread, varies from person to person.
While a large number of people with cancer
overcome the disease and live fulfilled lives
for many years, some succumb within a few
months.
Thanks to the advances made by research,
treatments are available for many forms
of cancer. Depending on the type of the
disease, these treatments are used alone or
in combination, to either control cancer cell
growth or to eliminate the disease entirely.
The treatment choices depend on the stage
of the tumor. Traditional or conventional
treatment options may include surgery,
radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy,
and immunotherapy. These therapies have all
been tested in clinical trials and proven to be
acceptable, safe and effective, although with
often unpleasant side effects.
But the journey with cancer is a long,
stressful and strenuous one. The treatment
procedure itself may be detrimental to the
emotional well-being of the patient. This
is where complementary and alternative
therapies have stepped in to offer holistic
treatment. Complementary and alternative

medicine (CAM)-also referred to as
integrative medicine-includes a broad
range of healing philosophies, approaches
and therapies. These therapies are used in
an effort to prevent illness, reduce stress,
prevent or reduce side effects and symptoms,
and control or cure disease.
The
terms
“complementary”
and
“alternative” are often used interchangeably,
when in fact they are two different
therapies. Complementary therapies such
as acupuncture, aromatherapy, art therapy,
counseling, massage, meditation, etc.
are therapies which are given alongside
conventional cancer treatments. The former,
however, does not replace the latter. They play
a supportive role and are only used in addition
to standard treatments. Some commonly
used methods of complementary therapy
include mind-body control interventions
such as visualization or relaxation; manual
healing, including acupressure and massage;
homeopathy; vitamins or herbal products;
and acupuncture. Alternative therapies,
on the other hand, are used instead of
conventional treatments. Electromagnetic
therapy, essiac (a mixture of herbs), iscador
(mistletoe extract) and gerson are some
examples of alternative treatments.
Conventional
approaches
to
cancer
treatment have generally been studied for
safety and effectiveness through a rigorous
scientific process. Less is known about the
safety and effectiveness of complementary
and alternative methods since many
of them have not undergone rigorous
evaluation. Some remedies, however,
once considered unorthodox, are finding
a place in cancer treatment—not as cures,
but as complementary therapies that may
help patients feel better and recover faster.
Traditional therapies such as ayurveda have
also been known to cure cancer.
Though many of these therapies are still
under evaluation, most have supporters
who believe that they have added a positive
aspect to their treatment and care, cope better
