KAPPA SIGMA FRATERNITY LEADS GREEK WORLD, SETS MEMBERSHIP
RECRUITMENT RECORD FOR SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE FALL SEMESTER
December 23, 2009 (Charlottesville, VA) -- Kappa Sigma International Fraternity for the
seventh consecutive semester recruited the most new members of any male collegiate Greek
letter social fraternity in the world, the organization announced today. Adding a record 5,553
pledges this fall, the Fraternity’s strong emphasis on the values of Fellowship, Scholarship,
Leadership and Service, coupled with the lowest membership dues in the fraternal world, have
helped Kappa Sigma perennially rank Number One as the Most Preferred Fraternity on college
campuses.
Kappa Sigma’s expansion program enjoyed tremendous success again this semester, bringing
back dormant chapters at Millsaps College and Denison University, while adding new chapters
at campuses such as Eastern Kentucky University, Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, High
Point University and Belmont Abbey College, among others. With eight new chapters already
installed this school year, Kappa Sigma remains on a record expansion pace.
Kappa Sigma’s alumni leadership is quick to credit the hard work of undergraduate members at
its 268 chapters and colonies as the catalyst for another record-breaking semester.
“Young men at college campuses today have shown great enthusiasm for a true values-based
fraternity experience,” said E.L. “Bill” Betz, head of Kappa Sigma International Fraternity’s
Supreme Executive Committee. “Our undergraduate members for years have been breaking
2. down traditional stereotypes about Greek organizations, enjoying fellowship while at the same
time positively contributing to their campus and surrounding communities.”
