This document compares and contrasts two types of Kamala (jaundice) in Ayurveda - Koshthashakhashraya Kamala and Shakhashrita Kamala. Koshthashakhashraya Kamala is caused by an excess of aggravated Pitta dosha involving the blood and tissues. It presents with yellowing of the eyes, skin, urine and stool. Shakhashrita Kamala is caused by the obstruction of the normal passage of Pitta due to vitiated Kapha, which prevents Pitta from entering the intestines. This leads to pale or clay-colored stools. The management of Koshthashakhashraya Kamala
