Paul Kaldjian is a visiting professor at the University of Helsinki who studies the geography of food. His research has evolved from studying urban agriculture to examining how traditional food practices can benefit modern cities. He is interested in the relationships between places of food production, distribution, and consumption. Kaldjian's current research focuses on the relocalization of food systems in the United States and Finland, including the growth of farmers markets, home gardening, and alternative food networks that aim to reconnect consumers with local and sustainable food. He argues for a critical evaluation of conventional industrialized food systems and greater involvement of people in their food from production to consumption.
