Federal OSHA fines from April to June 2020 exceeded $6.2 million. OSHA
inspections resulted in 21 significant fines (over $100,000) in that period.
Fines ranged from $121,446 for machine and electrical hazards at a
Florida glass company to more than $1.9 million for dozens of violations
by a New Jersey framing contractor. Common citations included fall,
chemical, lockout/tagout and confined space hazards.

Mine Safety Alert: Fatal Falls Double in 2 Years
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has issued a mine
safety alert related to fall protection. The agency issued 92 imminent
danger orders for people working at heights without fall protection between
January 2019 and June 2020. The most common violations were truck
drivers climbing atop their vehicles, and maintenance and quarry
personnel climbing to or working without fall protection in high places.

COVID Defenses
The world is slowly getting back to work after the coronavirus crisis - but
what effects did it leave on the workplace? ComplianceSigns partnered
with Justrite to survey 227 workers and business owners across multiple
industries to see how they had been affected by COVID-19 and what they
are doing in response. Results show 70% of respondents had confirmed
COVID-19 cases at their workplace; 61% of businesses require social
distancing and 77% have implemented additional cleaning procedures.
