The International Study Group (ISG) criteria and International Criteria for Behcet's Disease (ICBD) are the two main sets of criteria used to diagnose Behcet's Disease. The ISG criteria were developed in 1990 based on data from 7 countries but had low sensitivity in validation studies. The ICBD criteria were developed in 2010 based on data from 27 countries. When evaluated on 3294 patients with Behcet's Disease and 2581 controls from 2000-2016, the ICBD criteria had higher sensitivity (97.4% vs 66.7%), specificity (97.5% vs 99.7%), and accuracy (97.4% vs 81.3%) compared to the ISG criteria
Efficiency of Use of Dietary Supplement Arteroprotect® In Prevention of Cardi...inventionjournals
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in most developed countries and in many developing countries. The main cause of cardiovascular disease in 95% cases is supposed to be atherosclerosis, and the symptoms occur when the process is already at an advanced stage of disease. Present study was conducted to examine an efficiency of ARTEROprotect® (by Abela Pharm, Serbia) in prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The study was conducted by 76 doctors in primary health centers throughout the Republic of Serbia as a prospective clinical study of two groups of subjects. The study group included 4031 subjects (1785 males and 2246 females) who were taking ARTEROprotect® , while the control group consisted of 2564 subjects (1135 males and 1428 females) who were not taking it. Based on the results, dietary supplement ARTEROprotect® , used alone, could contribute to lowering levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-cholesterol; in combination with a statin it can achieve the target value of LDL- and HDL-cholesterol.

Role of the Biochemistry Labs in Promoting the Health Care Services for the I...IJERA Editor
The health care in the State of Kuwait depends to a greater extent on the biochemical and clinical labs attached
at each hospital. The data obtained from these laboratories will facilitate the process of diagnosing the disease
accurately. This will have a positive impact on the selection of appropriate treatment for the patients in general
and for diabetics specifically.
The main objective of this research was to build a profile for lab analysis and a database for building a
comprehensive system of integrated activities to raise health care for diabetic patients in Kuwait. The study
revealed the burden of admitted diabetic cases on the blood chemistry laboratory in Sabah Hospital (in relation
to length of stay and total numbers of lab requests). The aim was fulfilled by designing a model of the
biochemical tests for diabetics; filling in forms from the reality of patient data, completing and analyzing the
results electronically.
The study showed the importance of biochemical and clinical labs since they act as the link of patient's
information at the secondary health care level.
Glisodin, a vegetal sod with gliadin, as preventative agent vs atherosclerosi...Esther K
SUMMARY: Prevention of cardiovascular disease should target high-risk subjects based on genetic/familial factors, blood chemistry, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), and a history of/or current cigarette smoking. We selected active adults (n=76) aged 30-60 and investigated these risk factors, in order to recommend preventive measures.
Another interesting variable is the preclinical status or atheroma of the arterial (carotid) wall or lumen. We also investigated the presence of oxidative stress in, and the anti-oxidant status of these subjects.
We studied the anti-oxidative efficacy of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and variations of malondialdehyde (MDA).
Supplementation with GliSODin®, a vegetal SOD associated with gliadin, was effective in controlling the thickness of the carotid artery intima and media layers as measured by ultrasonography-B.
We could demonstrate the preventive efficacy of GliSODin at a preclinical stage in subjects with risk factors of cardiovascular disease.

A Study On Clinical Profile Of Sepsis Patients In Intensive Care Unit Of A Te...dbpublications
Background : Sepsis is life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection which is one of the most important cause of mortality & morbidity in critically ill patients. In this study clinical profiles of the sepsis patients admitted in ICU in this part of India have been evaluated. Methods & Materials: This prospective hospital based observational study was undertaken in the department of Emergency Medicine ICU of Gauhati Medical College & Hospital, over a period of one year from August 2014 to July 2015 after obtaining institutional ethical committee clearance.
RESULTS: Clinical profiles of 50sepsis patients, with male preponderance (56%) & mortality rate 36% were studied. Mean age was 48.36 years (SD ±17.16). fever & tachycardia were present in all patients. 30 patients (60%) required ventilatory support, 28 patients (56%) required inotropic support, 10 patients (20%) required dialysis. Gram negative bacteria were found to be the predominant pathogens associated with sepsis(73.4%) where most common organism responsible was Klebsiella (36.8%). Conclusion : assessment of clinical signs & initial serological & radiological investigations are of utmost importance to detect more critically ill patients as early as possible to intervene earlier for saving the life of the sepsis patients.

Longitudinal and multivariable log-binomial regression modeling
At Emerging Infections Program sites in 10 states, we recruited up to 25 hospitals in each site area, prioritizing hospitals that had participated in the 2011 survey.
Random samples of patients in acute care locations were selected from hospitals’ morning censuses on the survey date with the use of the method that had been used in the 2011 survey
Trained staff of the Emerging Infections Program sites reviewed medical records on the survey date or retrospectively to collect basic demographic and clinical data.
In 2015, a total of 12,299 patients in 199 hospitals were surveyed, as compared with 11,282 patients in 183 hospitals in 2011. Pneumonia, gastrointestinal infections and surgical-site infections were the most common health care–associated infections.
The CDC determined the survey to be a non-research activity.
Point-prevalence surveys of health care–associated infections in health care settings complement location- or infection-specific National Healthcare Safety Network data.

Hypertension is a chronic condition of concern due to its role in the causation of coronary heart diseases. Hypertension is a worldwide epidemic and important risk factor for coronary artery disease, stroke and renal diseases. Blood pressure is the force exerted by the blood against the walls of the blood vessels and is sufficient to maintain tissue perfusion during activity and rest. Hypertension is sustained elevation of BP. In adults, HTN exists when systolic blood pressure is equal to or greater than 140mmHg or diastolic BP is equal to or greater than 90mmHg. The
