The Mohawk College Super Mileage Team is representing Mohawk College at the Shell Eco-Marathon in Detroit as the first Canadian college to participate. The team is comprised of 8 students studying engineering and automotive technology. They are designing an electric vehicle to compete that runs on a 250W hub motor powered by a battery. While Mohawk College is providing financial support, additional funding is needed for costs totaling $11,400 for the car, safety equipment, travel, and accommodations. Donations and sponsorships are being sought that would help the team's project and raise the profile of supporting companies.
CRyptonite Robotics Team 624 of Cinco Ranch High School has had a very successful year, winning their regional robotics competition in Houston, Utah, and Dallas over the past three months. This qualifies them to compete in the World Championship in St. Louis from April 23-25. The team's success is attributed to the commitment, maturity, and talent of its members. It has also inspired the growth of other robotics teams in the Katy Independent School District. The team benefits from corporate sponsorship as companies anticipate the need for future engineers and want to support student robotics programs.

Sedimentary rocks like limestone contain radioactive elements from the environment they formed in.

Torvald in A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen starts as a controlling husband who sees his wife Nora as a doll, but by the end his views change and he realizes his treatment of her was wrong as Nora leaves him, showing character development. The play explores gender roles and morality in 19th century Norway through Nora and Torvald's relationship, ultimately criticizing the patriarchal society that trapped women in the home. Nora's rejection of her role as a doll and decision to forge her own path as an independent woman were radical acts that challenged social norms of the time.

EcoCAR 3 Kick Off Workshop
A recap of all the fun
From Sept. 16-18, over 100 students from across the
country met at the Novi Suburban Collection
Showplace for the EcoCAR 3 Kick Off Workshop (KOW).
KOW was a conference for EcoCAR 3 team leaders to
be introduced the competition. It described the
unique aspects of the competition, the deliverables
and provided training in areas (CAD, Simulink, Project
Management) that are essential for success in the
competition.
The KOW offered plenty of fun-time too. On the first
night, the teams played Whirlyball. Whirlyball is a
team sport that combines lacrosse and bumper cars.
The Hybrid Warriors team pledged to play until they
won (eight games later)!
The KOW was in conjunction with the Michigan
Battery and Electric Vehicle Technology Show. Our
EcoCAR 2 vehicle was on display alongside the new
EcoCAR 3 Chevy Camaro. This was a great chance for
us to network with companies that would be direct
suppliers to the components we need for our
vehicle.
“Having the KOW in conjunction with the electric
vehicle and battery show was very beneficial to the
EcoCAR teams. We were able to meet, talk and
interact with companies that produce components
we hope to integrate into our vehicles,” project
manager Alyse Waldhorn said.
EcoCAR is a very complex project with many
different components, people and deliverables.
Learning about all of these pieces and how they will
work together can be stressful. KOW allowed teams
to get organized from the start.

What do you like about
Detroit? I love the fact that
even though it is a big city,
Detroit has shown the real
American life through the
spirit of Detroit. The city
itself is a great opportunity
to live in and experience
the strong freedom that
only the U.S. can show the
world.
Fact no one knows about
you (until now): I learned
English listening to Mariah
Carey songs.
