14. Professor J. W. Huffman
Organic Chemistry Professor
Clemson University
Started Research in 1984
Huffman’s team developed 450
compounds
15. Professor J. W. Huffman
During an interview, he is attributed to
saying the following about the
consumption of his compounds:
“It’s like playing Russian roulette because
we don’t have toxicity data, we don’t know
the metabolites, and we don’t know the
pharmacokinetics.”
16. False Advertising
Labels on Spice products often claim
that they contain “natural” psycho-
active material taken from a variety
of plants. Spice products do contain
dried plant material, but chemical
analyses show that their active
ingredients are synthetic (or
designer) cannabinoid compounds.
17. Synthetic Marijuana
Synthetic Marijuana is made by
blending plants and herbs including
damiana leaf, bay bean, blue lotus,
and red clover. These ingredients are
sprayed with a chemical that gives it
its marijuana-like effects in the brain.
18. Symptoms
